Did they have no name tags or any way to identify who was an ally tho?
Earlier today I was playing Insurgency Sandstorm and we were sticking together as a group but we had a guy like this, and when we entered a room he had runned way ahead of us and was camping it and we all just unloaded on him lol.
By default and how most people glam their characters it's usually easy to see, Security forces have more military looking gear while Insurgents have normal clothing.
But some people make their characters look totally impossible to distinguish just by looking especially quickly when you have to make a decision immediately.

You ever played a game like Rising Storm, where you can't even see the enemies often times?Did they have no name tags or any way to identify who was an ally tho?

Just reminding me the French will never sell their left over stock of Famas'es to the civilian market. Pain. It's always funny and weird to me to see people in FPS games that are going full '' tacticool '' especially FPS that are meant to be a bit more '' realistic '' ( not simulators but not CoD or Battlefield either ).
I like Insurgency Sandstorm a lot it's fun, but you'll have the whole team be pretty standard and easy to identify, then you always have this one guy who's running around in the desert/ cities wearing a Ghillie suit, random gasmasks for no reason, skimasks with skulls painted on them, netted masks etc all in black and their weapons with every accessory imaginable on mic being ultra serious sometimes even using military lingo they heard in a movie.
All that really ends up happening is that you shoot them by mistake because they're always running ahead of everyone and not sticking with the group, so you walk up on them and you have no idea if they're friendly or not because their absurdly overequipped appearance makes it impossible to see.
Often times they'll even look like the enemy too.
Srsly tho, if you look like this( what r u planning to do with those shotgun shells lol? )
How am I supposed to know if you're a friend or enemy xD?
Tbh you'll look more like an enemy to me than a friend ( there's no name tags over peoples heads either ).
I mean I am not against edgy stuff, my character in FFXIV is pretty edgy lol.
But when it's a game that isn't fantasy it kinda just feels different to me especially a game that isn't super arcadey or like Fortnite.
There's just something really bizarre imo to see people in a more '' realistic '' military setting running around like this, and it also makes it just impossible to know which side you're on.
That's sad news. I'm hoping against hope that when XIV's period of active development's over they keep it running in maintenance mode. Knowing that the game's going to be around for at least 10 more years has me feeling comfortable with buying things on the mogstation and getting a few extra years' worth of use out of them would be nice.
I'll never use 99.9% of the seasonal event stuff, or use it only incredibly infrequently, but I still have to get it just to have it while it's free in-game. I didn't get the full clown gear on either of my characters and I'm now kicking myself for not doing it. I doubt I'll ever wear it, but not having the full set is going to eat at me forever.

When I first saw Tera, I was excited by the possibility of playing a Castanic. I think the men looked incredible - and then I saw Elin and wanted nothing to do with the game. That sort of thing is just creepy and weird to me.
If my memory serves me correctly the game got F2P because the swim suit, according to the devs, got so popular for elin that they made big $$$ out of it. Still gives me shudders to this day.
Castanic males were awesome! Was my main up until I quit because of the reasons I stated earlier.
Yeah, I have a very high tolerance in general when it comes to '' Eastern artstyles '' but that sort of stuff always creeps me out.
It really didn't help how much they focused on them too especially later on.
Elin were one of the reasons I never got into Tera. They just creeped me out but were treated as the holy grail of character creation.
I strongly dislike the "underage uwu anime girl" look and the countless ecchi poses in addition to Tera gear being quite skimpy in general just felt so wrong. It was definitely not aimed to be a "cute childlike" race, they were designed to look sexy from head to toe while pretending to be cute and innocent.
Freedom of expression is one thing but the way they blatantly creep baited with them was next level.
And then there was the community up in arms over Elin getting censored. Part of them critized the lazy way it was done (which was a valid point because it was really uncreative) but a lot of them explicitely stated that they wanted their little loli to only wear tiny panties and that the shorts make them so boring.

I have a pretty hard stance on censorship, there's a lot of games and studios/ publishers that I just blatantly refuse to support for even slight censorship I have pretty much a zero tolerance for it.Elin were one of the reasons I never got into Tera. But yeah stuff like the Elin is totally different, and I think it's the same too if you have a game full of extreme violence and you originally had a minor get harmed and it got censored.
When it comes to adults I just have zero tolerance for moralization and censorship, especially when it comes to something harmless as sex and sexuality people sitting around policing that on behalf of everyone else is just gross to me and a complete buzzkill.
But leave minors out of it...
That's adult stuff, and I do believe in the sanctity of childhood for a lack of a better term.
Not sure if that's a good term for it or not and if it gets the point across.
But yeah one of the other issues with censorship too is often how poorly it's done and how obvious it is, it always just looks inferior and like it has clearly been tampered with.
In the case of something like Elin tho I have more of an understanding for it even tho I think they could've done a better job with it.
It's definitely really frustrating tho how such a rather gross niche can derail a game so much.
Just because I like the overall art design of Tera doesn't mean I am okay with them, and I think most people find them really unsettling and gross but it kinda just ends up being all about them and where the discussion and attention is drawn to.
