SWTOR really didn't age well with its animations and effects :P.
It's not exactly a pretty game but I can live with that, but damn the animations and visual effects are uh.
Not good...
I remember this back from when I played too that I thought the animations felt stiff and clumsy, after so long tho and with especially FFXIV today in mind tho it's kinda painful.

I really do want to play the Jedi Knight story tho, I played all of the Imperial ones and never really got around to the Jedi Knight one beyond lvl 20 or so I think.
After looking back at the game again I now remember why I mained Assassin and Sorcerer, Assassins animations aren't good either but they're easier to deal with and I also remember the spec I played was like a battle mage of sorts.

The nostalgia towards the game is pretty strong, I really did love that game a lot.
I have a hard time going back to MMO's like these tho because it always feels a little like a waste of time when games are on such a decline.
It's the same with Blade and Soul too, I really loved that MMO too and I've thought about it a lot since I quit.
But going back to it is a bit eh, all I can think of is how it's probably not going to last much longer and it makes putting more time into it feel a bit iffy.

If they actually do shut down SWTOR at some point in the relatively near future tho I really hope they make an offline mode first.
It'd be a real shame to lose all of that story content because the story content is genuinely pretty great and I think most of it is solo:able now at least ( if not all? ).

I went back and played SWTOR a few years ago (really just logged in), and I thought the exact same thing after having played FFXIV and other games for a few years. It was really jarring. I have been thinking of playing that game, but it wouldn't really be to play it as an mmorpg. I would just play it for the storyline(s) really. Just haven't found the time to do so (not a priority). It is the game that got me more into mmorpgs, so I also have a good amount of nostalgia for it. Apparently, it's actually quite the cash cow for EA or Bioware, from what I have heard, and that really surprised me. It's in 'decline', but the whales have kept it and Bioware afloat for years. I don't really see them shutting it down 'soon' anymore, unless Bioware goes under, and/or EA has another replacement.

I'm actually planning to play a month of it in April, despite its current "expansion", if you can even call it that.

Yeah that was what ultimately made me decide against even getting back into it again.
I mean bad animations suck and it's a bit hard to get over at this point.
But damn they hyped that up like crazy and then it was a bunch of nothing, it kinda makes the game seem abandoned it's not a good look.

also in addition to this, since this stupid mistakes allows me to post once more on the OF: it's absolutely hilarious how someone (wink wink) can get banned because they called the contents of someone's posts drivel and obsessed with WoW, because it was really nothing but that, while you see multiple people who have straight up insulted people they disagreed with still roam free without a care in the world
less hilarious when you realize that those people are the ones that portray themselves as the moral harbingers of the community as they continuously deride, subtly threaten and attack posters they deem 'toxic'
great moderation, by the way, love how people are allowed to get away with so many things as long as they talk about how amazing the community is, while little old me gets banned over fricking nothing. twice.

I just think the moderation is totally random, I've been banned twice.
Once for uh.
Calling someone out on being racist and I was banned because I used a '' f-bomb '' in an insulting way.
And the racist person didn't get banned because they didn't use naughty language and directly insult someone I guess, either that or because the racism was directed at '' white people ''...
I ain't gonna have an argument about '' you can't be racist to X '' it's just stupid rationalizations of racism and hyperfocusing on one specific example of racism ( systematic racism ) as if that's quite literally the only form of it and it's also extremely tied to one countries political and historical context on the matter.
But yes it's extremely irritating when someone can do that and then they report you and you get banned because you basically said '' f is wrong with you '' ( and that was the worst I said... ).

The second time was because I asked people to stop derailing a thread with political talk about the US particularly in regards to the previous president.
And I got banned for something like '' derogatory towards groups of people ''?????????????
I didn't say anything derogatory at all, I still to this day have no idea how they managed to read that into it.
Asking people to stop derailing a thread with their native politics that had nothing to do with it is supposedly offensive somehow?
The person in question had joined that same month and only posted about it in that thread, so I basically pointed that out and was all like '' did you really make an account just to rant about this? ''.

It really feels like people report and then it's a Russian roulette whether a ban happens or not regardless of context.

Yeah, I've heard about this "expansion". Apparently, very short. More like a big patch than an expansion, if they had labelled it differently, it probably would have been received better.

It reminds me of how SE supposedly funnels profits out of this game, and puts them into other projects. From what I've heard, it sounds like EA/Bioware is doing the same thing.

I just assume I am being reported constantly in hot topics. You can't make any direct statements or curse. Others do seem to get away with it, but that doesn't mean you will. I have to adjust my vocabulary a bit when I post here, and talk around things. Sometimes it's better off not even bothering with some topics on here.

I am hyped for the 680m apu of zen 3 series, makes it around a 3Tflops apu monster in 6800u and a 3.7 Tflop in 6900hs / 6800H along with fsr 2.0 making 1440p high gaming possible for pretty cheap. De

Gpu's are now going into more ways to display pictures with scaling and rendering interpretations and optimizations than going the route of ever increasing pixel count, focusing on what needs to be rendered better and what doesn't, and it should have been a more efficient way of doing it for a long time. going the route of mp3/ mp4 optimization but for gpu's bandwith, picture to area and dynamic scaling optimization.

Soon enough, 4K / 8K or any "higher" resolution will not matter anymore, as well as polycount with tech like nanite. Both those things will not be the focus of these new ways of displaying / rendering 3D objects. Then when all of this is made much lighter for gpu's with new algorithms and way to compress it, realism of physics and AI simulation should be the next main focus

I tried... but when the whole debacle around the new launcher happened, I just knew I had to check Technical Support on here to see the aftermath. And then, I clicked on General Discussion...

yup, it's honestly why, while being annoyed by the hypocritical moderation, I'm also kind of glad that once this sub runs out again, I have no reason to post again
my first ban was for posting that au ra groomer twitter meme in response to someone saying that the L in LGBT stands for lalafell romance and that they want more of that in the game, while my response was "does the g stand for groomer" with the meme below
tons of homophobic or racist posts in that thread weren't deleted and they most definitely were reported
I started reporting posts of discussions I wasn't involved in, where one or two of the involved parties were insulting each other, their 'races' or other things and of course, nothing ever came out of that

the 2nd ban I got, I most definitely deserved as I was attacking one person quite rudely and accused them of things I couldn't prove, though the coincidences of only other people's posts in that discussion (about how not everyone has had great experiences in the community btw) being removed, while the ones that insulted and blamed the people for their own experiences with toxic people stayed up, where I and other people accused that person of using their FC to report the other side of the discussion. that was the correct decision, but the other two? lmao

can't wait to see v*lkall*r continue to spew nothing but thinly veiled hatred for anything WoW related and people talking about it whenever he resubs, or that weird midlander with the WoW name that's totally not a troll.
