Time for Mass Effect. Be back in....well, okay, I'll probably still be lurking, just playing FFXIV less for a bit.

I'm pleased. A lot of the stuff I wanted to see added to the game is due to be added to the game.

I've wanted an 'edgy' DPS job for a while now that used a melee weapon and darker powers. So I guess I'll be a Reaper main as of 6.0!

I plan to level through the MSQ's as a DRK, though. Reaper starts at level 70 and I don't want to delay immersing myself in the new zones/story.

Male Viera being added to the game is a nice surprise. I'll have to play around with the character customisation to see if I can make one to my tastes, though I think I'll stick with either a Midlander or a Raen.

I guess we'll get a drip feed of information in the coming months. I'm excited to learn about additional features, new abilities and stuff like that.

I'm more excited because I'm an altoholic and I was looking for a reason to make another character other than "go through X questline as Y class and Z race"

I think male viera look quite a lot like a Korean boy band or something. I don't really think they look feminine, but boyish. I bet they will be very customizable so people who are into that kind of thing will be able to customize or dress them in that way. I've softened to their appearance, especially as more people do comparisons, and their height seems more on par with female viera. I'd probably make my alt one too, better than having two female vieras who look very similar. Hopefully their bodytype turns out pretty good for armor sets, and outfits. I've always liked playing both male and female in games. It gives me a lot of options for distinct glamour, and if I liked the look of male viera on my alt, he would mostly be for glamour

I'm sure your boyfriend will love male viera, if he can get over their limitations. That will be the biggest hurdle for players who haven't yet suffered what will be two and a half years of female viera limitations. I really hope SE kicks into high gear and really starts updating viera during EW. Really hoping for some new hairs on EW launch for females too. This would be a great time for him to start playing FFXIV as well, with the current story arc soon coming to a close. It'll be like a fresh start for many players, new and old.

This viera is what I consider my canon (story) character, plus I like her a ton more than miqo'te.. I actually get more compliments over her than I ever have on my miqo'te, or my (retired) au ra. I wish SE would do her justice, and give viera more options!

I don't really care that much about hats either, it is annoying don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't use 99.5% of them anyway. If they made them clip to fit, I definitely wouldn't use any of them.

Great time start now! It's going to be 6 months of time catching up, getting used to the game, and getting ready for EW. I'm hoping male viera surprises us, and looks to be worth the investment, and has some great customization options in the benchmark.

Super bad news
Two weeks ago (though they're only announcing it now) the author of Berserk died from his heart exploding. Ruptured Aorta, age 54.

I'm pretty shaken by the news, though... if there was a way this author would go, an exploding heart is ON THEME!
I'm glad his death was metal as hell, even if it's so sad...
