Viera and Hrothgar Megathread

How many male viera players you think will actually stay as one?

Honestly? Quite a few I imagine. I think they look pretty good and there's still a decent amount of Viera left despite everything going on (or more accurately, despite absolutely nothing new going on) with the races.

I keep repeating this but I am serious about it lol I do think it's great they have committed to making the counterparts and I'm genuinely happy for people that wanted em, and I don't intend to crap over anyone's excitement for them.

But I'm also capable of feeling more than one thing at once so I am still very disappointed with how it's looking for us still playing these races right now.

I do 'look forward' to all the new and creative ways we'll be told to shut up about hair now the fan fest is over. What'll it be this time? At least they made male Viera? Wait for the next live letter? Wait for the expansion to launch before whining?

There will always be players who stick to a race even with the limitations, but there will also be a loud portion who will switch off (or not) and join female viera players here.

I always advocated for male viera inclusion, but I thought SE would actually do it right the second time around.. Now we are just getting more of the same. Maybe female hrothgar will be different, and their two hairs per face won't require a fantasia to switch to..

Oh, it's going to be that, and also being told by future male viera players: "Hey, at least you had female viera!"

I'll probably switch back to my veena anyway. I have yet to do the story, and with new story coming out on the 25th I'd rather be my canon character. I was really, really hoping to be excited about something for viera yesterday..

When the race is new it's not as glaring because you're getting a new model with <X> amount of actually new hairstyles you haven't seen before, I remember thinking when Viera came out "Hey this is alright, I like the hairstyles they do have and I can wait until they add the rest they said they would add". That turned out to be a longer wait than expected so now it's getting pretty stale.

Even if they by some miracle end up 'doing it right' the second time around I have 0 interest in playing a male Viera so it wouldn't help me anything, I imagine it's the same for people that want to play male Hrothgar if they release female Hrothgar without the Fantasia requirement. Great for them, not so much for the rest of us.

Overall some cool stuff was announced, but not on the front I was hoping for so I'm right there with you.

100%. It's depressing. Viera is the race for Rhana. I can't change her, because then she wouldn't be the WoL any more. I just want her to have something different.

yeah I tried going au ra now, determined to stay as one but....no I just missed my viera. I just MISSED her, the way she moves and smiles and her stature. She is Viera. My alt was turned into my lovely Raen though so.....all good.

That's exactly how I was. A couple of the hairstyles looked nice, and female viera overall look(ed) great! Then reality sets in: SE regularly releasing hairstyles throughout ShB with no equivalent for Viera/hrothgar, headgear continues to be made with no regard for viera/hrothgar (i.e. hat rewards during events), SE being silent on viera/hrothgar, etc.

It's been just about two years, and we have seen NOTHING! But we have seen things like: "Well, it's only been 7 months!", then "THERE'S A GLOBAL PANDEMIC GOING ON AND YOU ARE ASKING FOR HAIRS?!"..

I might make my alt one, just because of some OCD thing I have (like currently mooncat/suncat) and glamour, but I also have no actual interest in actually playing them myself. I just supported their inclusion for players who were left out. Now we are just getting more of the same, and I have to ask if it really was worth the resources spent, with these races in this state? Like, everyone else was still getting hairs even when they were developing male viera, so that was just great! Doesn't seem like the global pandemic really stopped them there.

Maybe in 6 months we will see some new hairs teased for EW..

I can't imagine them releasing male viera in a "complete" fashion and leaving female vieras behind. I can imagine female vieras getting the same hairstyles men have added to them, it wouldnt be a big thing since the ears are in the same space. Then again.....

If the hairstyles are shared across both genders I won't complain. It does give us more choice...and in the male viera reveal video I saw a short hairstyle I would totally use.

Still would be salty if we once again end up being left out of getting new hair regularly though.

I think we all know that's how it's going to be. SE already stated viera would be receiving hairs at a lesser rate due to them being race specific, iirc (don't have the quote). Maybe, just maybe we will get one or two unisex styles during EW..

I can deal with a lesser rate but so far we haven't even had that.

Maybe this is their lesser rate.. viera technically did get new hairs.. The ones for male viera..

If we also get a couple hairs during EW, they TECHNICALLY weren't lying. Only took a few years..
