I still thing the Ravel was a missed opportunity for this reason. The sets are lovely, and the aiming hat looks amazing on Viera using the ponytail, but they don't feel very.. Viera.
And paws! more paw-like feet like the 2017 werewolf set, except without that hideous shin protector (still salty Hroth starter gear didn't have paws >.>)
Our conversation over Highlanders broke my will. I missed the personality.
Something to remember is that Ravel is not connected to our viera because Ravel is in The First. ShB has already shown us there are some very notable differences between the cultures of the races mirrored on both shards, especially with the lalafell/dwarves.
From the Ivalice alliance raids it's clear that at least some of the viera from The Source are closer to how we know them from past FF games considering that alliance raid is directly inspired from them. I think it's only a matter of time until we get to explore the lands where The Source's viera and hrothgar come from in the msq itself, and it would be then that (I hope) we will finally get quite a lot of gear designed with our shard's viera in mind.
I was Au Ra for a long time before I turned viera so it felt a bit like "coming home" again tbh, and I love my little greyish Raen equally to my Viera. I have this story in my head that my Viera uses a fantasia during mating season because she just dislikes bunnymen LOL. (In reality Id love to see bunnymen implemented ingame).
My headcanon is my char is still a Roe but chug a fantasia thinking it was a hi-elixir, and I mean, can you blame him?

Chugged a hi-elixer...woke up as a giant cat.
What other crazy shenanigans can he get into today?! Find out next time on Critically Acclaimed MMO, Final Fantasy XIV that has a free trial up to level 60 including the heavensward Expansion!!
Yoshi-P said in an interview or a live letter once that the First’s viis are the same as the Source’s viera. Something about understanding the viera culture via the viis we meet in ShB.Something to remember is that Ravel is not connected to our viera because Ravel is in The First. Considering viera were only added for fan service and the only place they’re native to is on the opposite side of the world from where we’re going in EW, I don’t think we’ll see much if anything about their native culture beyond what the NPC on the theater airship has already told us, let alone viera-inspired gear.
