In the case of Noctis yes, i might be wrong. He has strong jaw x)
But what i wanted to say is : when i talk about someone androgynous i look at the shape of the face, without counting the hair, eyelashes or anything that can be changed.

Guive to Cloud the same hair as Lightning, some makeup and he'll look very feminine. Yet with his current hair and absence of makeup he looks masculine.
Viera have the same type of face but have thick eyelashes by default that guive them a more feminine look without any chance of adjustment. With many of the haircuts being cute, achieving something similar as Cloud is more difficult. It's close sure, but when i tried with my character there are moments where he just looks really close to a girl :


I'm not saying viera shouldn't be girly, it's just a nice idea for ppl who want something closer to Squall or Cloud. I don't think it's something that breaks the lore or anything.
Even for the beard a more masculine face is needed, if it's too mutch on the girl side it will look weird. Unless you really want to have a girl with a beard, then it's ideal.

Well tbf, the majority of male characters within the FF universe are quite effeminate or androgynous, if you actually look at them & compare them to real life men- & not just male models, men in general. FF men have facial qualities most would associate with women such as slender noses, larger eyes, narrow / weaker jaw & chins, lack of facial or body hair, except for the rough wayward, messy- mullet, shag wearing types like Auron or Snow. Enix/Square soft had/has an ideal look and it's sort of a realistic anime/mannequin appearance from what I guess & why they mostly refrain from going for a realistic character profile, to keep a unique style? More cost effective? (I think they used real people's profiles for the FF 15 movie? and Squall was inspired from the late River Phoenix) Most FF characters are under 30, & have little to no evidence of male body hair & immaculate eyebrows that are always on fleek.
Also, I'm not ranting or pooping on anybody's thoughts & opinions, or putting anyone down- just pointing some details out!

Eh, I know plenty of men and boys with long eyelashes, it is a running joke amongst people that men get thick long lashes when women spend alot of money trying to achieve the same.

Yeah i have eyelashes longer than some women xD.

I think ppl are assuming that i'm putting some gender bullshit when it's not the message xD. I'm just talking about facial features mostly. Saying that male viera are less of a man because they have androgynous features/look delicate/pretty/idk what else was not my goal. They are men i know lol i'm not contesting that.

The wole message is : some guys want to look a little bit more chad, not by mutch just a little bit. Thick eyelashes that look like some eyelyner has been used don't help (even if it's "natural" in the lore, just like highlanders don't have a right for eyebrows). Spamming delicate features everywere doesn't help either.

Guiving sutch an option would be cool, i like looking more like a baddass cliché warrior. Looking pretty/cute isn't a problem but it's not like i want to go all the way to the most cute thing ever.

I'm not saying that current male viera cant be a chad while looking pretty, i'd like a little bit less pretty look and maybe other ppl as well.

That's true, but all i'm saying is that i'd like a more fierce look like cloud has and less makeup options.

The male viera are okay as it is, i'm glad some ppl enjoy them as well, even if it's not quite for me. I'll make do with the current bunny boys or use something else that's all. If one day i can create a more fierce viera, even if he's still androgynous, i'll be glad about it.

But it really looks like ppl here are against this idea xD

To be honest I am surprised there weren't as much outrage over their height as I expected.
Maybe the height got drowned by the appearance of the M Viera.

...there couldn‘t be any other reason? xD like malnourishment for example? they are the main guardians of the forest, protectors of their villages and children. their training is so harsh that only a few make it through in the end.

i just find it weird that „height“ plays such a big role for their social status to some people - males being shorter automatically must mean they are dominated by the women!!! xD i mean, i joke about it too (viera snu snu meme is hilarious), but i hope everyone knows that thats just headcanon for the most part.
they always stay hidden, nobody has really seen them (which could also explain why they are shorter). even if they look handsome/beautiful it doesn‘t mean they are not fiercy warriors (just like the females)

we know they live in a society where they don‘t coexist together. they have their roles to protect their villages, forest and their kin. i don‘t get any of this „female dominate the males“.

Tbh guiven that males are not many, are kicked out of the house, have a good chance die in their training, live out in the forest alone (where their brothers die), have the "shoot 1rst ask questions later" mentality, take years before returning home just to mate, go out again with adolescents that will probably die in their training, have to train the adolescents, accept the deaths, and still look like a cute disney prince, it's a bit scary lol.

true, i was talking more about people trying to shoehorn their headcanon into the general viera lore we know so far. you can roleplay your character as you wish, your personal character follows his personal lore to a certain degree - for me it gets weird when you try to force your headcanon onto their general lore.

i know what you mean and i understand people might think it doesn‘t add up, and in a real life scenario it wouldn’t make much sense - but, the same can be said about the females. i wouldn‘t imagine seclusive amazonian warrior women to look like victoria secret supermodels with make up on. same for female au ra, they are fierce warriors but still look like cutesy uwu women.

Ah, but maybe we’re going about this wrong. Maybe our WoL male Viera didn’t come straight from the forest?
But decended from female Viera who had already left, and thus any male children they have from then on wouldn’t have gone through all that (and thus look softer and smoother, and less scarred).

We know races in this game can interbreed, and they usually take after the mother. It’s recorded that when an Au Ra ruby princess had a child with a hyur, the child ended up being an Au Ra (albeit with fewer scales). During a Halloween event, a Miqo’te girl had a Miqo’te mother, and a hyur father, and at the gold saucer, there’s a Hyur child with a Roegadyn father.

You could make this your head cannon for any male Viera you see that you don’t think is tough looking enough :P
