Thank you for supporting us male characters in these trying times of hairstyle fashion crime. It truly has been a struggle this expansion.Obviously hair is just hair at the end of the day, but given how many people playing male characters have (rightfully) griped about how a lot of the newer hairstyles are either clearly designed with female characters in mind first and then made unisex or some ambiguous anime-cut that ends up pleasing neither, how do you suppose cutesy styles like pigtails with daisies will go down for them?
The ponytail doesn't actually clip into your character, but it has those long strands in front that still clip with any and all collars.
Great questions and answer by Gamerescape and Yoshida in that interview; I think we're in for a shift in how Viera/Hrothgar headgear works and how they will put the time and effort to make the "hat hairs" that every race gets and then edit holes for Viera ears on headgear. Creating earholes for Viera ears sounds like it takes time but like I always say they don't need to release them all to the public at the same time, start with a group of headgear first like artifact gear and release that in a patch then go down to mogstation hats, etc.
This is the kind of information I've been looking from them, some kind of tangible action towards Viera heardgear and hairstyles.
I understand that many hats are difficult to work for Viera because of the long upwards ears that sit on top of the head... and Hrothgar due to the weird facial shape. But that's defnitely not the case with a number of items.
Hoods, for example, they are pretty much flat on top, to the point that some even work for Viera:
And if you look closely, they literally just let the ears clip through, there aren't actual holes or anything, and it doesn't look bad.
This same effect, which appears to be a mesh visibility toggle, could easily happen in - many - older items as well, such as:
This example, however is nighly impossible to be adapted:
The Viera ears' base would clip through the hat's edge no matter how you positioned it, and adding holes to this hat would make it extremely weird, as it's a tiny tophat.
Point is (in Viera's case) even knowing there a lot of hats would be impossible to workaround the ears, there are still a good portion of items that can potentially work with little effort.
My take also is, if they had to choose, I suppose they could make at least the Job artifact armor work, since those are basically the most iconic items we get to have ingame.
I have seen how the mod that lets vieras ears clip through and yes, it would be fine with all veils, hoods, turbans. The issue would be the hairclipping through some of them, that definitely needs to be adjusted, which some modders did and then they looked just fine. As it is now, the hoods that do work basically replace the hair which looks fine but I wouldve loved it if the ones that do show hair worked tooI understand that many hats are difficult to work for Viera because of the long upwards ears that sit on top of the head... and Hrothgar due to the weird facial shape. "Naoki Yoshida: For both the Viera and Hrothgar, there were certain characteristics we wanted to emphasize in their design—the long ears of the Viera and beast-like features of the Hrothgar. Due to this, there was a limit to the range of customization, and we worked with these conditions when creating these races. If we wanted to make these features more customizable, we’d have to sacrifice those unique features, so it would be great if everyone could understand that at a fundamental level, it is not simply a matter of whether or not we make adjustments to accommodate this.
I have mentioned this on several occasions, but I understand why players request this—I really do. In an effort to accommodate this, even if just a little bit, we have continued to spend a lot of time assessing possible changes in structural design of the models, as well as potential additions to our current workflow. Even as I write this, I just met with the team to get an update on their testing status for this. We may not be able to get them to be exactly the same as the other playable races, but I hope to be able to give you some kind of update soon, including the status on the stubble for Hyur as you asked about previously, so your patience on the matter is greatly appreciated!"
Well..
It's clear that they want to be sure to know where they are going and how go deal with the most problematic things before starting to add hair and hats/helmets.
And some helmets/hats need more than a little adjusment, Hrothgar and hair don't seem to have a bright future together and even Viera is better for hair idk what kind of parameter is making the job difficult... I'm curious ><
Hats won’t happen they will give us 2-3 more specific racial hairstyles and call it fixed. ✌
to be fair...those "unique features" are so limited as well that it definitely doesn't *feel* unique when you play them since you keep running into your twins in gamehttps://gamerescape.com/2021/06/07/f...ctors-edition/
