Is this big FFXIV news? Who is this?

A chap from my server who made top notch tanking/dungeon guides, particularly for new tanks, but they were good enough guides for any role. I don't think I've seen any post 4.0 content from him though (not a new tank anymore and 5.0 stopped me bothering with guides so much anyway), so my initial thoughts fall to perhaps he just didn't want to maintain a channel with so much outdated info, and didn't want to leave anything up that pertained to it. I mean, you could argue he could leave the music up if that was the case, but maybe he just didn't want to be bugged by other people about it, and considering there are other channels who do the music thing (including the looping the track over gameplay footage thing), he didn't see the point. Maybe he just wasn't getting the views anymore. Or it could indeed be YT being a pain, as it often is to content creators. Who knows? It's not "big" FFXIV news per se, just relevant to some of us who appreciate what the chap did for us. I personally wish him the best!

If I had to take a guess, he probably got hit for all the music. Assuming he didn't delete his channel himself. I never watched their guides myself, so all I know him from is the extended music uploads.. and yeah.. that is risky.

I remember listening to some of the extended music he'd upload, thats a real bummer, and a bad sign if it was cause of the music.

SE has been known to just pull the worst f cking stunts with FF music on YouTube, they've struck down the whole FF15 soundtrack before, videos that had hundreds of thousands of views gone overnight, the FF7R soundtrack was struck down, including the first video of One Wing Angel FF7R version to get a million views, and the Nier Automata has had the same fate as both too. All still have the music up somewhere, but its all newer stuff, can the really not just forcibly monetize the videos? Christ that's better then taking the damn things down, probably some anal SE exec who's overprotective with copyright.

Hope to god SE leaves the majority of the FF14 (and FF16 when the time comes) soundtrack up, it'll be a disaster if they strike it down.

If you knowingly sharing copyright material on your personal YT channel you must know you may be taken down. If it's in a fair use setting, then that's fine but are you ripping a track and it don't fall in fair use then you're own to blame.

You seem to not know alot about copyright and IP protection. We can all say we dislike the companies do this but from a business pov I understand.

If he deleted his channel himself, then you can take it simply as him no longer wishing to be a content creator and perhaps just.. well, like any of us, just a player. If he got hit for the music, well, fear for Mekkah Dee I'd say.

I'm pretty sure you can buy these soundtracks - as a real disc, on iTunes/amazon, get a Spotify-abo to listen to them... I didnt check all the outlets, so not all of these options might offer all soundtracks and there might be more options out there aswell. They're giving you access to their music, as long as you're willing to pay for it - which you should be if you value said music or music in general. Artists and musicians dont survive on people listening to their music... and yes, in the case of videogame soundtracks they probably earn most of the money to pay Soken, Uematsu or whoever else by selling the game, but they have every right to make sure they get paid for the music, too.

Almost all of Youtube is run by bots and the algorithm, so if Youtube deleted his channel then it means that either the bots went through and found enough strikes and automatically destroyed it, or he deleted it himself. There's almost no human interaction whatsoever with Youtube staff or execs, except for the occasional PR move when larger channels get strikes and speak up about it on Twitter.

Then I would say he probably no longer desired to be a content creator. Maybe people poked him a bit too much? It's all conjecture ultimately. But if he's not posted any guides since the 4.0 days, despite still playing actively into 5.2/5.3 content then my guess would be as I stated.
