Automatic? Because then if 4 80s get together, they're always stuck only with higher level dungeons. Not everyone wants that.I think it could still work without affecting queue times, it would just require forming the party before deciding on the duty. If four level 80s end up together in leveling roulette, they can avoid Satasha for example, but if you get a level 20 in the party, you'd still get a low level dungeon.
It would reduce the chance of high level players getting low level dungeons but still leaving the door open for people queueing in specifically for them to not have high queue times.
If they made this a toggle that affects using roulette solo, that could complicate things on the backend since it's a filter the queue system would need to apply to match those with the toggle on together and shunt level 80 players without it into the normal queue with any level range possible. And likewise for other level ranges. They'd need to check the toggle for the preference.
You're almost an entire patch late to complain about this, y'know? The most recent DoH relic step already required expert recipes.
The fact that the required expert recipes can be learned from the 8th-level master recipe books already makes it clear that these (likely) aren't part of the DoH relics anyway, considering the recipes needed for those relics have their own tab (Ishgard Restoration -> Skysteel Tools). Not to mention how they're obtained in Eulmore, so there's absolutely no link with Ishgard.
You do realize there's an ocean of difference between being easy and being the hardest content that segment of the game has to offer right?
But I guess not in this world where it's only black or white.
And if they're higher ilvl than the relics. . . doesn't that negate the entire DOH relic process of this expansion? The entire point of a relic is you build the best weapon the expansion has to offer over a longer period of time.
Right now the Penta-melded HQ Aesthete's is better than the current Relic. The next step was supposed to make the relic beat that item. Guess not.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
Resplendent tools sound a bit strange to me. Since there are no "I made that (Class): VII" achievements added for DoH this time, it seems they've simply scrapped the Blessed Tools and moved the reward over to "craft some Experts". Getting another shiny main-hand for crafting Experts immediately after we just finished shiny main-hand Relics that required Experts for the last step seems strange, since it either invalidates the relic or isn't worth getting because of the relic. I guess the Blessed Tools weren't obtained by enough players, but I personally like when there are a few rare achievement rewards to chase.
But anyway, what disappoints me is that a second round of main hand tools when we already have shiny main hand tools seems such a missed opportunity. We could have received shiny off-hands for the first time, shiny crafting stations (like the LW table or Cul oven or such) or even a set of fancy crafter gear with some glow. All sorts of ideas they could have come up with. But I guess I'll wait and see until the patch is out before giving full judgement.
Besides that, looks good. Great TT changes. EX mounts look good. More MSQ, a raid, trial, maps and crafting. Should be enough to keep busy with.
Only 6 MSQ? Sadness, I was hoping for 20 since its a two parter. Ill be done this in like 10 minutes (JK, I actually read the story and pay attention, unlike the "skippers")
It's simply because not every 80 in the leveling roulette queue actually queued for leveling roulette. Back during the moogle tome event, I was a level 80 queueing for Aurum Vale for tomes. Thus a party full of level 80's who got matched with me might perceive the system glitched/broke when it didn't.This would be ideal. I can't help but wonder if there's some weirdness in how and when in the process it selects the duty that prevents this, that they can only circumvent when the whole matchmaking process is removed. This might be another victim of the bizarre code the game is built on.
It's easy to make this system a toggle for a pre-built party since there's no variables to consider, but they'd have to take in every extra variable for people queueing in leveling roulette for this system to work alongside it which they might not be interested, lest it possibly break the leveling roulette matchmaking like what happened one time back in HW when they did some editing to it.
Good thing they aren't relics. The relics are the Skybuilder's tools that required the quest chain that took them through the steps Skysteel-Dragonsung-Skysung-Skybuilder.
These are new tools that part of the crafting community asked to receive as a reward for doing the hardest crafting in the game. We don't even know that these tools will have stats on them. They may be purely cosmetic.
Personally I would have preferred getting secondary tools to complement the Skybuilder tools as the Expert reward but oh well.
Need to remember this is only part of what we're getting for MSQ. The other half will come in 5.55 and those quests will be listed in the 5.55 patch notes.

Ayup; a set of matching Offhands for the Dragonsung stuff would have been cool. Sigh.
