Yeah thats a big bummer, but kinda makes since. A majority of large housing walls have some kind of balcony while med and smalls pretty much never do, oh well.
I know what it is... We will be equipping the Ish DoH MH relic, and glamouring it with the Eulmore Resplendent version. Then, we can sit in Kugane, flashing MH like a neon sign on Route 66... "Eat at Joe's"... "Eat at Joe's"...
Sorry, one of those days -

I guess... what's bad about it?
Relics were the "hardest" crafts along with the Ishgard things, but you can craft pretty much everything else with basic melds on a crafter gear. These additions are just bonuses to collect. We don't need stat improvements at this time of the expansion. So they can only provide glamour / achievement in that respect.
But I do agree that the off hand tools could have got some attention too.
It depends.I guess... what's bad about it?

1) If they have stats on them that are better than the relics, they invalidated months of work for the DoH relics.
2) If they don't have stats on them: Pentamelded Neo-Asthete's weapons are better than the current relics so that basically invalidates the relics (they were obtainable a while before the current relic step)
So your options on the relic are either
A) Spend time creating a relic that is subpar to a fully penta melded craftable item. This is counter to what the relic is supposed to be. At the end of the expansion the relic is supposed to be the best weapon you can have
B) Spend millions of gil attempting to pentameld a crafted item.
C) Don't really care either way and just buy the white scrip gear or buy /craft the Aesthete's and don't penta meld it. You don't NEED to anyway to make current crafts.
IMHO the crafting relic has been underwhelming the entire expansion. I hope the do better (if they do) next time.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
Oh ok, I see what you mean. I thought last step Skysteel tools were better than pentameld actually...
But in the end, my point still stands; what would you need more stats for anyway? (which can be said for all gear in FFXIV, as a matter of fact, but that isn't the question). I think Skysteel tools were more a progression building feature, but stats don't matter so much in the end, given how you can pretty much craft everything with anything. Just like combat relic ends up being better than Savage weapon, but you don't have anything to do with it by the end of the expansion. They are a form of grinding towards cosmetics.
Technically they're slightly better in the net stat budget than what you can get out of pentamelded Aesthete.Oh ok, I see what you mean. I thought last step Skysteel tools were better than pentameld actually...

In practice, your mileage will vary depending on the Craftsmanship breakpoint you were trying to reach and how you had your Aesthete tool pentamelded. I was Control stacked. Switching to the relic meant getting a lot of Craftsmanship I didn't need and losing some Control. To benefit from it, I had to remeld 5 pieces gear and I'm still left with some excess Craftsmanship that I don't currently benefit from (it will probably be helpful while leveling next expansion). That makes the relic feel less than good to me.
SE should have used the Aesthete tool as a base and then added sockets to it instead of using the Handsaint tool and giving it a static stat boost. Being able to choose our stats to fit what we needed would have made it a tool that felt good from the moment it was earned.
But it's a non-issue for the majority of crafters since most aren't going to be using pentamelded Aesthete tools in the first place. If you're using anything else, it's a straight upgrade.
As for why would anyone need more stats? You can drop steps from macros saving a significant amount of time if you do a lot of end game crafting or reduce the need for HQ materials to guarantee HQ Exarchic result from a macro. More stats help cushion the RNG effects in Expert. More stats will make it a bit easier to level 85-90 when Endwalker launches and end game crafters are rushing to get ready to make raid gear.
What came across to me as bad, was that unless something startling in terms of Resplendent specs appears tomorrow, the Resplendent series seems very much like poor use of developmental resource; almost like it was forced for some reason. Put another way, why on Earth muck with your settled top class (relic) slot, just before the next expansion? Ofc, many times in the past we've been surprised by things of this sort, so for now, Tuesday holds the answer. I just hope like the dickens it does not turn out to be a stuck pig; wrong about this is a good thing!I guess... what's bad about it?

It seems like the equivalent of implementing Blessed tools and putting them behind something meaningful and reasonable to achieve other than doing an obscene amount of unique recipes in your crafting log. These tools got more and more obnoxious as time went by; so with some luck, these will be the successor to the Blessed Tools. Especially as exhibited by the absence of "I Made That VII"What came across to me as bad, was that unless something startling in terms of Resplendent specs appears tomorrow, the Resplendent series seems very much like poor use of developmental resource; almost like it was forced for some reason. My only issue is why not incorporate something like offhand glamour, or bench glamour, or even emotions associated with the class as opposed to doing another series of flashy tools.New achievements and titles have been added.
If you have already fulfilled the requirements for the new achievements prior to the release of Patch 5.5, they will be awarded upon accessing them in the Achievements menu.
I Found That: Miner VII
I Found That: Botanist VII
I Caught That VII
Don't expect much. .i500 scrip equivalent tool.

That's a matter of opinion and preference. I rather liked the Blessed Tools, it was a lengthy but fairly relaxed grind you could do over time while selling the items. Not many people got the tools while current so they had rarity and it gave some purpose to obscure recipes and having a decent stockpile of mats.It seems like the equivalent of implementing Blessed tools and putting them behind something meaningful and reasonable to achieve other than doing an obscene amount of unique recipes in your crafting log. Obviously they're not everyone's cup of tea, so it's understandable if some found it "obnoxious". But the relic should have been the fix to that, involving up to date crafts and Experts for those who preferred that route over the Blessed Tools. Instead they scrapped that system and both tools involve Experts, which is sort of a shame.
Yep, I found having to craft one of everything a lot less obnoxious than the RNG in Expert Recipes. They had a decent idea there with the new conditions, but they make it far too dependent on RNG. When you go 33 steps without a single Pliant, there's something wrong with their metrics. Whereas crafting one of everything is a lot of time material gathering but it feels much more rewarding for me since I'm actively working the entire time, rather than just getting lucky with RNGesus. That's a matter of opinion and preference.
