Same. My only issue with Armor Crush is that it sounds like an ability that would apply Vulnerability Up—but it doesn't.
I mean they could just remove it entirely, and then stick it in the mogstation as an emote, but I'm sure that'd piss people off too.
I just want one thing for NIN...
GIVE ME DANCING EDGE BACK !!!
This skill was so cool, please give it back !!! ( i know se will not read that )
This seems like a lot of words for “I don’t like this please implement my vision so I am happy.”
But for arguments sake. I’ll throw this up, your changes do not work inside of this game’s combat system. Period.
Two blatantly clear examples, your steal changes and your hide changes. Make it so Ninja has a clear and unnecessary advantage over every other job. Hiding mounts/minions behind Ninja exclusive content, hide making them able to bypass entire encounters makes it less of a team cooperative job and actively encourages Ninjas to screw their party members over.
You aren’t asking for Ninja to be redesigned with any fairness or thought to it’s position in it’s subcategory where it fits in beautifully in it’s current iteration. And more impressively it offers a unique playstyle inside the melee subcategory which is absolutely refreshing.
Also FF4, Edge uses ninja magic when he first joins the party, and gains access to more when he gets angry later on.Wow. You spent a hell of a lot of time complaining about Ninja's class fantasy and aesthetic, drawing upon various different iterations of "Rogue" "Thief" and "Assassin" in various other franchises, and not once did you mention the Ninja job in the wider Final Fantasy franchise, most notably:
FF1: Ninja is an upgraded job to the Thief class, and can use mid-level Black Magic.
FF11: Most similar to 14s here, we now get proper Ninjutsu 'spells', that are more powerful than similar Black and White magic spells.
FF12RW: Ah Ninjutsu again, Katon, Suiton, Raijin and Doton. Elemental spells with enfeebling statuses.
FFDimensions: Dual wielding and Ninjutsu 'spells' again.
A Ninja using Ninjutsu... what a crazy idea...
This isn't "Classic Rogue" or "Assassin" this is Ninja, a Final Fantasy job class.
I'm not particularly fond of any of your mechanical suggestions either, which predominantly boil down to "consolidate everything into one button." That's a sure fire way to make the job infinitely more boring. It works fine as it is.
One thing I noticed is you don't seem to understand what to do with Meisui.
Meisui is an essential part of the rotation, you have to use it with TenChiJin.
While this is all true, Final Fantasy XIV wears its Naruto inspiration on its sleeves. In an interview way back when Ninja first released in XIV, Yoshi-P was quite candid that Naruto was a influence for the FFXIV ninja and had told the development team to read the first volumes of the manga for inspiration.Ninjas have been using supernatural powers for a long time in various Japanese media with Kabuki stage plays being the origin of a lot of ninja memes (the "traditional" black pajama ninja outfit is actual based on the outfits of Kabuki stagehands). FFXIV draws from the same sources as Naruto rather than drawing from Naruto. The Frog/Toad association with Ninjas (i.e. Hellfrog Medium) goes back at least to 1806 with Jiraiya Gōketsu Monogatari which is the origin of the Toad, Slug and Snake ninja trio of Jiraiya, Tsunade and Orochimaru.
My issue with ninja stems more from my problem with rogue in general.
Level 18 you get trick attack. While a very important skill for ninja at lv45+, however its a dead skill most of the time in the hands of rogue. Try to stealth before a pull so you can at least attempt a trick attack? Nah, the boss just pulls you out of stealth. So you don't even get to try and practice in the earlier levels with your new ability in a dungeon or trial.
I think that was an interviewer asking leading questions and misinterpreting what Yoshi-P said. Naruto was one of the biggest manga/anime in Japan in one of the biggest magazines in Japan it would be nearly impossible for no one in the dev team to have read it. Yoshi-P likely admitted that he and the dev team had read the manga in the past during a interview with a western journalist after StB's release and the interviewer jumped on that admission as the origin of the Hellfrog Medium. While this is all true, Final Fantasy XIV wears its Naruto inspiration on its sleeves. https://www.bluegartr.com/threads/12...edia-InterviewOne more ninja-related question – will ninja tools be needed?
It won’t consume any items. This is also true for poisons. It’s so unpleasant to have someone show up for some content and then be like “oh, sorry, I can’t go DPS because I ran out of poison!” so we definitely don’t want that to be the case. For now, I had all of the battle staff involved with the new class and job go back and reread volume 1 of Naruto to get some ideas.
I mean its pretty hard to deny it when Naruto was brought up unprompted by Yoshi-P in the interview. Its not like Final Fantasy XIV has ever been shy about its pop culture influences, just look at all of the Gundam references in the Sorrow of Werlyt and the Sage.
