Going after 500K Miner Skyward Pts for Pteranodon mount

I am going after the flappy boi (Pteranodon mount). So I spend the whole day digging more info about what's best for earning 500K Miner skyward pts.

Jansg has a guide on Reddit, and it's pretty good. His suggested route for miner is on the big island. Its advantage is that you don't need to cross any island. However, its disadvantage is that there are NO ice golems or ice bombs, which are the most profitable for me (on Zalera). IMO, that island seems to be better for Botanist than for Miner.

So, here's what I came up with. I laid out both routes below. Route #1 ends with the 2 nodes on a 3rd island. Jumping on a 3rd island is usually not preferred, but this jump here is pretty fast, and the mats gathered from the 2 nodes could be more profitable than the mats from the End nodes near the start point. (right-click and choose "View Image" to expand it to full size)

*EDITED 11 Apr 2021: Fix minor errors and added more details

My suggested route has many ice golems, ice bombs and even zoblyns. So that's a plus. Also, the windy weather-dependent item spawns right on this bottom left island. So that's another advantage.

Lastly, I compared the turn-in points for Artisanal vs NON-artisanal mats, and as long as they're lvl 80, it makes no difference. So you can choose on each node what to gather instead of gathering only 3-star mats.

I can't stress enough how important the auger is to getting points faster. Each charge is equivalent to 7-8 nodes without yield increase. Always use up charges before you get to cap. A node gathered with your auger capped is a node worth of points lost.

Another thing - bring your Hi-Cordials. You want 20 per hour you plan to be in Diadem (though your usage won't be quite that efficient and you'll probably only use 17-18 per hour). Make certain you'll have 500 GP for King's Yield II/Blessed Harvest II on the +5 attempt nodes (an extra 4 items per 100 GP).

Any leftover GP you want to use for Bountiful Yield/Harvest II on normal level 80 materials. Why the normal materials? Because you'll get +3 yield on the normal items but only +2 on the Artisanal. With the point value the same for both types, go for the bigger yield. An extra 60+ items an hour makes a difference when you're going to be grinding this out over many, many hours. Only stick to the Artisanal materials if you're also trying to get your Risensung achievements.

Ignore the clouded nodes unless you're already right there while they're active and you have the 500 GP available for King's/Blessed. Spending a minute traveling there is like losing 3-4 nodes worth of materials (and more if it takes you longer to get there). The tiny point increase doesn't make up for that loss.

Personally, I'm not convinced the single island pathing is the best way to go. I had tried it for about 8 hours with BTN and found my Artisanal item yield down about 150 an hour compared to doing full circuits. The travel time to jump between islands is only 3-11 seconds (depending on which jump) while it takes 22-25 seconds to fly between the end points of the marked single island routes in the first image Caimie posted. That's like losing a node every time you move back to the beginning.

My suggestion is that everyone test to see what works best for them. It could be you find yourself falling into a good rhythm following the single island path so it works better for you even if it didn't for me.

Thanks for the tips, Jojoya! I'm gonna consolidate everything and just write out a guide as usual!

As a person who grinded out the mount, I can't stress enough just how many stacks of mats you're going to have at the end of this, even after using a portion of them for your own crafting for the crafting side of the mount grind. I wouldn't worry about trying to maximize profits while doing this. You will have so many mats it will be all you can do to offload them at any price. 500,000 points is thousands of stacks to put up on the MB, and artisanal mats do not sell anywhere near as often as the regular mats do. It took me many months to finally sell off the mats I had gathered, and this was with an army of 40 retainers fully stocked going at it full time. And I still just junked a large portion of it to NPC's because certain mats were selling so low that it wasn't worth it to sell on the MB. I found offloading them to people through PF to be a decent way to get rid of large amounts at once as well, so you might want to try that.

It is somewaht ironic that even after you're done grinding for the mount, there is a secondary grind almost as bad of just getting rid of all the stuff you gathered.

Do you think these achievement and reward will vanish in 6.0 ?
Now that Ishgard Restoration is over.

I wouldn't want to miss some of these because I thought I'd have the time to do it

It looks like it's going to be permanent content.

SE is adding new content to the Firmament in the patch next week to replace the FATEs we had during the restoration itself. Considering how badly COVID cut into their development schedule, it's very doubtful they would be going to this much effort for content they plan to remove.
