The problem isn't controls, some of the hitboxes for the platforms are really weird. You'll think you've missed one but end up standing on thin air, then go to make a jump and fall through the next platform. It's just kinda janky.
My favorite is always bonking my head on something that isn't there.
theres jumping puzzles?
If they intend to keep FFXIV going (which they totally could if they wanted, hate saying it like "the game is going to die" cause clearly and really is not, just worry about deep seeded issues continuing on and on lol)- I really hope elements like this get improved. Movement is not the worst I've experienced but it is certainly not the best movement I've experienced in an MMO (or game in general). Also I know movement is a nebulous term of many issues but I just mean that in general, like you know how in some games your dashes feel elegant and snappy and here in this game not really. Collision detection isn't the same as the movement systems controlling dashing of course, but they all come together to make an experience of 'movement'.
I think a higher framerate can make some jumps harder.
As a Roe, I always feel I'm bumping my head on something when jumping. it's like they forgot there are races taller than a Miqo ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
*Edit* to clarify, I mean the actual character phases through or bonks whenever there's another ledge above, so I always hesitate whether the head of my character hits an invisible wall when jumping or not. If the game had realistic physics, it'd be literally impossible for big races to do the puzzles

One problem is that there's at least 8 different jump distances, depending on the time between W and Space key activation. I did some testing with a keyboard macro to precisely set the time in milliseconds and measure the jump distance, taking a screen shot of each.
Here's the result:
My character started on the rail at the bottom each time. The only way to deal with this is to develop a feel for the timing.
