When they want me to spend millions on a gil sink mount it should be a cool one.
These golden reskins are... not cool to say the least.

it's funny there's a jp blog post that's already complaining that the gil sink mounts are coming lol

Think they are pressed for resources on developing assets like glam items ever since they pushed Viera and Hrothgar. The fact the judge armor doesn't include a split cape for races with tails is a pretty obvious component of this, as they are relying on just getting a single model out and having it sort of mold to fit most of the races.
Definitely pressed for resources. BLU only got a single carnival fight and no mount for the raid achievement, DNC/GNB got no Primal weapons in the last 4 sets and they're scrapping the Allied Beast Tribe questline for this expansion. This is after scrapping Hildebrand, a dungeon per patch, Deep dungeons, Ultimate, several seasonal events, condensing individual class quests and so on. Temporarily cutting some content to allocate resources to enjoyable priority content is understandable, but they've been trimming more and more and more lately...Think they are pressed for resources on developing assets like glam items ever since they pushed Viera and Hrothgar. Actually not really. Gil is much harder to make in massive sums nowadays. Back in early Stormblood there were plenty of times you could sell basic white DoH/L lv70 gear at 1-300k and endgame gear over 1 million apiece. Some players amassed anything up to the multi-billion mark and even some casual players pulled together 100 million+. A lot of those players are still sitting on that old gil, but if they were to spend it all at once, would probably never see it again. I'm definitely in that boat myself. Also, for those who already have the money to blow on a golden mount "gil sink" chances are they have the ways and means locked in to just make more money so even if the mounts do take a chunk out of their bank account they'll just make it back and, again, complain they have too much gil.

They've been ignoring tails since ARR, though. The Ironworks gear, most of the artifact sets, and all of the Crystal Tower gear sets, at the least, just let tails clip through and hope you don't pay too much attention to it. Not to mention the Evenstar set, which just looks.....really awkward and uncomfortable.Think they are pressed for resources on developing assets like glam items ever since they pushed Viera and Hrothgar. I'd like to see them flip the switch and turn on FC private chamber functionality for personal estates and let owners buy as many additional rooms as they want, up to the current maximum of, what, 500 or so? You could turn your cottage into a 100 room mansion for enough gil. The price per room could even increase depending on how many you already own. MB taxes will pull out even more gil as people go to furnish those extra rooms.

Oh snap that's a great idea.I'd like to see them flip the switch and turn on FC private chamber functionality for personal estates and let owners buy as many additional rooms as they want, up to the current maximum of, what, 500 or so? I love my room the way it is so I never wanna do more than tweak it, but if I could just get a whole new room and keep designing I'd be a very happy camper ♡♡

The biggest issue with the golden mounts as gil sink is just that they're not going to do their job. People who can already afford them will just buy them day one and then go back to complaining that there's nothing else to buy. Or, as evidenced in this thread, they'll complain that the thing to buy isn't the thing they want to buy. Also, for those who already have the money to blow on a golden mount "gil sink" chances are they have the ways and means locked in to just make more money so even if the mounts do take a chunk out of their bank account they'll just make it back and, again, complain they have too much gil.
It's also worth considering just what "expensive" even means. YoshiP can go around saying they are really expensive but keep in mind he also says that the "new dungeons are challenging" every time new dungeons come out. Either way, we have players in game who literally have a billion gil banked. There is just no way that the "expensive" gil sink mounts are going to actually be priced in a way that will impact players like that. "Expensive" is relative.
As for some of the other suggestions in this thread, I think players need to keep in mind that more functional gil sinks can be a problem in that they can end up punishing the players who aren't rich. And if the gil sink is too appealing/useful/functional it can actually end up encouraging RMT and gil selling.
I'd like a fountain that spews gil. It'd look wonderful in my garden, I think.

I'm okay with the idea, and these reskinned beast tribe mounts are alright for starters. They really should add reskins of PvP mounts though.
