I would like that myself especially since they are going to let us have more characters in 2.0 as legacy members.

I know I am planning on leveling up a brand new character in 2.0 so I can experience the new version from the beginning and it would be nice to be able to have any and all the legacy items on the new character as well.

Besides, it is not Yelta or Pyretta that is the one being rewarded for sticking out the 1.x version, it is me, the account holder.

Other players will get the ability to do this too, but they're paying an extra $5/mo. to get that capability.

Yeah, in a game where you can be anything you want anytime, this is the only real reason to use another character, other than a change of racial aesthetic scenery.

There could also be a limit on max crafting level's; so even more reason possibly

Nope. I can't see the devs touching anything related limiting a player's experience ever again.

I would like them to make it so goobbue and things are locked to the account cos of this, or have an npc legacy members can talk to to get the goobbue on another character.

I will probably level a second character with my friends waiting on ps3 release now I can.
