    Randomly unableto summon retainers "unable to commence cutscene"

    I have been having an on and off issue for the last several months where I am unable to summon my retainers.

    I go to a summoning bell, select any of my three retainers, the game becomes unresponsive for about 30 seconds, followed by the error message "unable to commence cutscene" and the whole attempt to summon my retainer is cancelled.

    Googling the error message only brought up a bug from 2017 stating to not summon your retainers while you are queued for duty. However, this is 2021 and I am NOT queued for duty at any of the times that I have had this error message.

    Does anybody know what the problem could be? I NEED access to my retainers

    I find that happens to me when I'm suffering from lag issues, once it resolves itself I'm able to summon them like normal. Lag could be your issue
