    Please buff Merciful Eyes

So what I like to do most in this game on the side is soloing old content, for Wondrous Tails, farming, etc. and I prefer to play DPS classes.

My favorite job is Samurai, and a big draw of it for me was it's Third Eye/Merciful Eyes utility which looked great for soloing. I never liked just playing a DPS as a pure DPS bot, and I don't mean I want the kind of boring damage-buffing "utility" you see on other jobs, it's been a gripe of mine since HW. It's gotten better but still not quite what it should be imo.

Anyway I can solo certain bosses like they're nothing on Red Mage, which is great, except I want to play Samurai. When I work on certain bosses as a Samurai instead, it's really hit or miss if I clear it. All I'd need is a potency boost from 200 to 400 to really make Samurai work for me this way, and it doesn't hurt endgame content or balance. Anyone that's ran savage content as DPS knows better than to waste ANY time healing yourself when you should be pushing damage. Merciful Eyes already requires a Third Eye proc to even use anyway. It's not on-demand spammable like Vercure and can't target anybody else.

I also think Curing Waltz and a few other DPS jobs should have their heals improved. Nobody is going to be tanking endgame bosses with slight buffs. It'd make the jobs feel more interesting than "mah DPS!". Just sayin'.

And no I don't just want to play Red Mage instead.

Samurai already has more self healing potential than other melee jobs. Bosses aren't balanced around being able to solo them, and therefore not every job is capable of doing so, nor should they be. If you want to do certain bosses solo, play on a job that excels at that type of content. But they shouldn't be balancing jobs around how well they can perform solo in content designed for parties.

Merciful Eyes is an oGCD on not a 15s cooldown but a 1~15s cooldown. It can be used frequently and costs you a Seigan, maybe sometimes.

C.f. Vercure, which no competent RDM would use on themselves in a standard party setting except to Dualcast at a phase change and which costs a minimum of a Jolt II in solo, which deals 377 potency and generates 6 mana. This is equivalent to SAM losing a 334 potency attack and whatever the kenki equivalent of 6 mana is.

Vercure's potency is 455, so if you want to increase the potency of Merciful Eyes to 400, let's talk about where you think SAM should lose an extra 74 potency for each Merciful Eyes use. This is the minimum additional potency SAM needs to lose per Merciful Eyes use--it should probably cost a bit more because Merciful Eyes does not necessarily cost a Seigan always.

    Maths:

    Code:
    Jolt II: 290 potency
Maim and Mend II: Attacks and heals 1.3x potency
    Jinpu: Attacks deal 1.13x potency
    Base potency or an equivalent attack on SAM: 290 * 1.3 / 1.13 ≈ 334

    Vercure: 350 potency
Maim and Mend II: Attacks and heals 1.3x potency
Base potency of an equivalent heal on SAM: 350 * 1.3 = 455

    Seigan potency: 220
    Proportional base attack potency cost for a 400 potency heal: 400 / 455 * 334 ≈ 294
(These last two lines are entirely within the context of SAM base potencies,
so Jinpu is not needed in the calculation)

Actually that's pretty easy to do on Samurai, all you'd have to do is give Merciful eyes a Kenki cost. If Merciful Eyes cost 5 kenki, you'd get almost exactly to 74 damage potency lost assuming the same Kenki to Potency efficiency of a Seigen.

    That sounds fair.

They aren't going to make changes to classes to effect balance on unsynced content, especially since this would effect balance in at-level content. Even if they would, the change would be moot once Endwalker comes out and it becomes more difficult to do older, unsynced content anyway.
