Another New Hairstyle I Can't Use

My favourite character's outfit and hair (Alphinaud) are finally available for purchase and once again if I were to buy it I would be paying the same amount of money as everyone else but effectively getting less due to being unable to use the hairstyle.

I'm beyond tired of this. Yes there's a pandemic but that clearly hasn't stopped SE from providing all the pre ShB races with several new hairstyles, while for some reason viera and hrothgar can't even get ONE. Not even something bought with real money.

I don't want to hear about different headshapes and so on, because that doesn't excuse the fact that the other races got several hairstyles. They could have dropped one for them and given it to us...but no, apparently we're the racial version of blue mage.

We haven't even gotten other different appearance options like tattoos etc. Literally nothing.

And to top it off we can't wear most headgear.

If I hear nothing about us getting something new in the announcements in May I will be seriously considering changing back to miqo. I am exasperated.

EDIT: I'm not shocked this happened, I am disappointed. Every time the old races get new head options while the new ones get none the gap between the two groups widens further. In one expansion alone the gap has widened very considerably. If this continues then less and less players will want to play the new races due to literally getting less out of the game despite paying the same sub and completing the same content.

I'm not sure why people are still shocked every time it happens. Annoyed sure, but it's known by now that viera and hrothgar canxt use normal hairstyles.

The reasoning is technical. Viera and hroth hair uses a different slot than other races do for hair. They use the same slot as the legacy tattoo (this was discovered when people started making mods to remove the tattoo on viera/hroth, it made their hair disappear).

I have absolutely no idea why they did this, but they did. Short of a technical overhaul with Endwalker or a future expansion, this is how it's going to be for the forseeable future. So be annoyed and be angry about it.

But stop being surprised. It's how it's gonna be for the forseeable future.

I bet SE is sorry to hear that you will pay them money for a Fantasia to use a hairstyle you also have to pay extra for.

I had two free fantasias. I used the first one to chance to viera. I still have one left :P

EDIT:I also didn't say I would buy the new outfit if I racechange, and likely not given that the other races got other new hair that I like more than Alphinaud's. I would get it on viera to finally have something new. Not something I would need to do as a miqo.

You've been around since shb's inception, yes? And every new hairstyle since then has never been accomodated for viera, yes?

What made you think that for this one, they were finally going to do something about it? Props for holding hope for this long cause I gave up around the six month mark of shb's life.

In before 'It's all totally acceptable because SE had told us Viera/Hroth would be limited races from the start'. It still boggles my mind that they've gone this route with the two races. This isn't some budget game that no one has heard of. It has a huge following, is constantly listed as a top MMO in charts and I can only imagine the oodles they rake in from subs and the cash shop. I feel like they could have implemented both races just fine from the start, as they did with Au Ra. Why create either race in such a unique way, if that is in fact part of the reasoning, that it would limit options.....something no other race suffers with?

I think it's honestly disgusting and disappointing. What's even worse is the people who defend it. Just because it doesn't effect you that doesn't mean you can't speak up against it. It is crap and you know it. To release races incomplete with no intentions to fix them. They should be ashamed of themselves. This is a World of Warcraft level f@#$ up. I could absolutely see Blizzard add something completely broken like classes for example and spend 6 months not fixing them. It's a joke.

A single person makes all these hair/hat mods for the so called 'technically difficult to implement hair/hat for' races in a short time span. SE has a paid team of modellers that can't do that in a span of... 2+ years?
In a game where 'glamour is the endgame' and gear stats are irrelevant? I'd argue this is a pretty significant thing to still refuse to address.

I have a feeling that they've had to prioritize what get's worked on and what doesn't. The pandemic changed how they operate. Even so, they had at least 2-3 chances before crap hit the fan to give these races something but did nothing.
