Honestly for me the only iconic thing about DRK for me is the big sword and having some sort of dark magic-ish thing going on along with it. Nothing else comes to mind, and I've been playing DRK for the better part of a week now. Just feels lacking. Especially after trying it out after PLD and GNB, PLD being in my mind the class more focused on keeping the party alive with skills like Cover, Interdiction, and Benediction, while GNB is more focused around the DPS burst which feels satisfying to pull off. (For me anyways, haven't gotten tired of it just yet.) And now coming over to DRK, while the oGCD attacks are cool and all, and the moves look somewhat nice... There's just not as much enjoyment in playing the class as there is when I go back to the other tanks. Maybe that might change when I get it into some later game content since I'm only level 56 with DRK, but my PLD running the same level content just feels so much more defined than a tank in the content it released alongside.
Just my opinion so far on DRK though, and in no way contributing the mess of an argument happening in here.
I hate current DRK, can't stand playing it anymore. would rather warrior with that playstyle since I actually have self sustain and better OGCDs.

Yup, made the switch recently myself. If I’m going be a watered down warrior than I might as well play one the majority of the time.
I rotate the tank I play depending on which achievement I'm working to finish.

THANK YOU! This is exactly what I was thinking! The only thing they have in common is that Delirium and Inner Release both allow you to spam a spender skill. Even within that framework there are differences, Delirium causes the spenders to generate MP, but Inner Release allows them to force Direct Crits on the spenders.
Delirium and IR are major functions/mechanics of the respective jobs. Yes, it that respect it’s a clone. We all know SE could have done better here. It was a blind spot borne from the developing team members not playing the jobs or just not caring enough to make a greater distinction.
nope. If you're gonna go down that route of "A is B, but only because of [conditional], then they're more alike/identical than you think.
Here I'll go down the list
Del is IR, except no D.Crit.
Blood Wep is Infuriate, except over 5 (if youre lucky) GCDs instead of all at once.
E/FoS is Storms Eye, except one's a GCD combo finisher and the other's an oGCD.
Abyssal Drain is Equilibrium, except way worse.
Living Dead is Holmgang, except LD is garbage. (i.e. both trigger a "when <1HP, don't die" thing. It's just LD is garbage because of the kill gimmick.)
Shadow Wall is Vengeance, except no thorns bonus damage.
hot take incoming: TBN is Thrill, except for once TBN upfront is better.
you know what tho' guys? Dark is alright.
