Tank Gear: Plz No Moar Tin Cans (Suggestion Thread)

Hi.

My name is (Blue Icon) and I have a tin-can problem.

I realize I take about 5-6 more boss hits (without a healer) than my Monk brethren, but it's only a couple hits compared to everyone else.

Glamour options are incredibly limited when it comes to tanking. Unless it's gear available to every job, it's going to look like a tin can. Sure the can is either on my shoulders, my back, my chest, or my stomach, but it's still a tin can.

This suggestion thread is for other thoughts and ideas (or just a glamour appearance) thread showing that we'd like to have more options than tin can.

I mean, I find myself getting some good choices of glamour with the High Steel Scale Mail of Fending, the Republican Hoplomachus's Lorica, and the Alliance Coat of Fending. The latter I guess has slight tincan-isms going on with the pads, but otherwise, it's all pretty toned down.

The only armors that have felt like tin cans to me have been ones like the Heavy Iron Armor that combine the head and chest. There's a pretty good selection just among tank gear like Kaurhz mentioned, although I suppose one thing I would like to see would be more leathers and fur like the Woad Skywarrior or the Warg Jacket of Fending.

The Omicron gear from Alphascape isn't can-like at all.

Sky Pirate's coat of fending is rather nice.
Pair it with a Shisui Kohakama of Fending and suitable boots and you get an awesome tanking-in-underpants look.

My fending glamours have far more variety than my glamours for any other role, so OP I cannot empathize with your issue.

The tank glamours are only tin cans pre-50 and move into all sorts of other designs after that. Ironworks for a start.

Some recent ones (level 80) are Warg Jacket of Fending, Facet Mail of Fending, YoRHa Type-51 Jacket of Fending, Neo-Ishgardian Top of Fending, Heirloom Jacket of Fending, YoRHa Type-53 Coat of Fending, Crystarium Tabard of Fending, Bozjan Coat of Fending and Edenmete Coat of Fending.

On these you will find hardly a piece of metal, if any. Look at how most of them are described as a "jacket", "tabard" or a "coat".
