Square Enix Store US for Latin-American players

Hello people,

I’m trying to vent a little about the news I just received: The Square Enix Store US is not shipping to my country, Brazil.

I’m a customer since 2015 and I always relied on the Square Enix Store US to buy collector’s editions, books and other merchandise, since these aren’t easily available on other stores, especially in my country. I was trying to buy the new artbook for Final Fantasy VII Remake and saw that the store is no longer shipping to my country and don’t have a date to resume shipping to it.

Look, I’m not trying to flex on anyone, I know I’m very luck to be able to buy merch from Square Enix and continue to play FFXIV during these hard times, specially we here don’t have local prices (we pay the currency exchange on Steam).

I was anticipating being able to buy the new collector’s edition for the upcoming FFXIV expansion, if it is going to be released as a physical Collector’s Edition, given the current conditions in the world.

Now I don’t know what to do! I really love this game and I have physical collector’s editions for it. I don’t want to loose the new expansion!!!

Honestly this is an issue you'd have to talk to the stores support about.

Hmm, honestly, I get you...

My country added a new tax to online purchases, which means my sub is technically more expensive than before, and anything I buy off the PSN/Mog Station/Steam is subject to that. Now, where it gets worse is shipping.

Now, I was looking at getting the Lore Books, but they add a 40 USD extra for shipping, and in no place in the store did I find WHO they ship with. If it was one of the private companies, I wouldn't mind that much, but if they ship using Correos de México (because they DID Mention using USPS, and USPS would most likely hand it over to Correos de México) that means I would never see the package. CoM is INFAMOUS for "losing" or downright stealing packages. So I won't give them 80+ USD just for a chance to get the Lore Books.

SE should just put some offices in LatAm, it's a very large market as it is...

Are there perhaps proxy shipping companies that could help you buy and ship to your location? I'm not at all familiar with South America, but I know there are plenty of companies that you can order items from Japan to North America if the item is not technically available for direct purchase and shipping to North America. Maybe there's something similar for South America? I know it's not an ideal solution and you'd have to pay extra for the service but if it's something you really want it might still be worth it.

Pre-covid they used USPS for the deliveries (and Correios do Brasil, in my case - we usually don’t have many troubles with it - I’ve never had), in the beginning of the covid situation they used DHL for my parcel.

Fortunately, books are tax-free here, so is easier to buy them internationally or use Amazon.

And I agree, Latin-America is simply forgotten as a potential market for games and merch…

I was thinking about that, but I never heard of a service like that here in Brazil. We have import companies, but I don’t know if they can provide a service like that. But I’ll look into it.

I feel you. Though there is a Square Enix Store Australia, we can only buy digital items there. Physical merchandise? What are those? Lol.

When I bought my Encyclopedia Eorzea (I and II), I have to use a forwarder in the US...
