We have what is known as the, "Trap Party."
It lists itself as a clear or farm party, but when you join it, there's someone who hasn't cleared. More often than not, the person who put it up makes some dumb excuse for why that is, and then the group proceeds to wipe for as long as everyone is willing to go.
I don't think they're very prevalent these days, but I haven't felt like PUGing much of anything in recent times. There used to be, "Loot Rules: Lootmaster" for farming mounts from Extremes. The idea being you join the group, and you wait your turn. The group goes for a set amount of time, or goes until everyone has the mount. They usually turn out to be scams, but I did join one for birds back during Heavensward. We did round robin on bird mounts and formed a temporary static for that express purpose until everyone in the party had their birds. We said we'd keep in touch, but I haven't played with any of them since before Stormblood.
It's also very common as others have said for NA PF to list the strategy to be employed in the PF itself. It's also very common for no one to read that, ask what strat we're doing on entry, and then argue about why we should use a strat they're more familiar with until they leave or settle.
It's a mess \o/

"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore
There is the unspoken rule of using party finder for EX or higher content and specifically not using the duty finder for Extreme trials.
As a general rule, avoid lootmaster parties like the plague. They are basically a scam so that the host can get a mount for themselves and possibly their friends and then abandon. You don't see them quite as much now since I guess everyone caught on, but they were kinda rampant for a bit.
What are people’s thoughts on rolling on pieces in savage that are an upgrade but not BiS in a PF?
Obviously it’s going to help me clear the next fight, but it’s ultimately going to be replaced.
For stat purposes, even BiS gets replaced inevitably because this is vertical progression MMO.
Just say you're lotting it for glamour and roll as hard as you can.

EU sometimes uses macros to establish how the party will resolve key mechanics. PF is for extremes and higher and the leader pretty much decides how the party is going to run, but the most common party types are practice/clear/farm. A party will continue until someone has to leave, at which point the party can recruit a replacement or disband. It is bad form to leave a phase 2 practice party soon after clearing a phase 1 boss, because the party will then have to clear phase 1 again with the replacement people. Loot is for whoever wins the roll.
Hello! Nice to meet you! First of all I want to say that you English is very good! I play in both Japan and North America so I can give my own experience.
3滅解散 (Three wipeouts and it's over.)
Sometimes you will see this in party finder especially on the last fight of a tier (4層) for example "3 wipe = disband" but often someone will just leave the party after anywhere between 1 wipe and 5 wipes. So it's sometimes difficult to get a learning party (練習PT) going for a long time.
【周回】(Three wipeouts and it's over) There is no rules and people may leave after 1 clear if they feel like it.
【取り抜け】 This is impossible in NA, and will never happen in party finder ever.
In North America there is only フリロ (free roll)
--------------------------
North American servers tend to be "free-for-all" where people just do what they want.
There is no agreed upon rules and even if you write something in party finder (PT募集) people will just do as they please anyway.
Also because 周回 gets translated as "Loot" in the English settings, you'll see 周回 parties for many things other than "farming" (like weekly clear of savage fights for example)
Also, you will often see static parties (固定PT) with very little rules written down. Unlike in Japan where recruitments posts are very explicit in North America the recruitment may list only the desired role, schedule time, and ask for "prior raid experience" and that's all.
