It has always been this way, really. It's just unfortunate that psychologically speaking those who have negative experiences are more likely to remember those, and thus in the grand scheme of things will more likely distort the reality of the situation, which in this case is that there's a false belief the community is declining or deteriorating when it has always been present in equal amounts.
