Average Data Usage

Hey all!

I just moved into a new house, and we are currently waiting for our ISP to come out and see if they can set us up for internet.

I am currently using my Verizon Hotspot. It runs pretty well, very little lag. But I have a 15g data cap for my hotspot usage per month.

I was wondering, how much data does FFXIV use per hour? I know it will fluctuate if I am doing raids or duties. But on average, does anyone know about how much I will use? I can increase my cap, I just don't want to do so unless necessary.

SO in short, I just need to know the average data FFXIV uses per hour so I can gauge how much I need per month.

I SHOULD have the internet set up within a month or so. But for the time being, I must rely off my phone.

I once was in the same situation and used my 4g to play for a month.
I did everything as normal, savage raids, discord, etc.
The only thing I remember was that a full eureka instance (144 player) needed about 300-500MB per hour.

Everything else was not really noticeable.
I used in that month about 25gb data for FFxiv alone and most of it was due to eureka.

Also, at the end I was able to raid in 8 player groups with reduced data speed.

To mention is also that I got 100gb for free, so I was really wasteful.

discord or any voice chat will use more data than the game.

the game itself uses only kb or few mb of text-based data to play.

unless a patch or update happens, in which case, you will need to download however big that update is.

I'm playing entirely on a 21 GB allowance per month and rarely having issues.

all good, but just a note, you can set discord to not automatically load gifs or images etc. with this, you can easily manage discord data to be under 5gb.
