I've read from some places that it will drop if you have 168 hours and past the last patch content of HW.
I have 11 days of play time and I'm almost finished with the main part of SB. When will it drop off?

typing /nastatus off will remove the sprout icon permanently
As far as I'm aware, it will fall off naturally once you complete the quest "A Requiem for Heroes", the final quest in the post-Stormblood MSQ.
It actually falls off when you start and/or finish the first Shadowbringer's quest, iirc. I know the first quest is important, just don't know if it falls off when u start or finish it.
It drops off when you do the final patch quest of Stormblood (right before starting Shadowbringers).
In the event you finish that quest before the playtime requirement has elapsed, you'll keep it for a while. It's extremely rare for anyone to get to that quest in that time - it's almost entirely people who purchased a story skip.
As mentioned you can disable it with the command, but if you are a new player I recommend keeping it so that people know you are new and understand why you are making certain mistakes or appear lost.
It's when you finish it. It also doesn't remove you from the novice network until you change areas.
Yeah ahah, learned that the hard way. Said goodbye to NN and everything back when I was on Exodus, was like "I'll miss you all!" etc etc... and then I didn't leave for a few minutes afterwards because I didn't realize that's what happened.
That would have been outdated info from the Stormblood era.
Essentially it's when you arrive at the current expansion. I don't know if they will extend it again when Endwalker releases, because level 80 would feel kind of silly to still be a sprout, but that seems to be the pattern so far.
For my latest alt to get into Shadowbringers content, it fell off when I exited the Rising Stones after I accepted the first Shadowbringers quest. A system message appeared in my chat at the same time.
I was well over 200 hours played on the character by then so I'm certain it was exiting the Rising Stones once I had accepted the first quest that triggered it .Congratulations! You have proven your knowledge of adventuring and need no longer carry the title of new adventurer!
It's gone after you A:complete the final quest of Stormblood/start Shadowbringers and B:have like 168 hours on your character.
