    More attention to Brazil, please!!

I bought the game and started recently. However, only today did I discover that the game has monthly fees.

Here in Brazil the monthly fee is more than 80R $, thus making the payment unfeasible ... Even more so in a chaotic pandemic scenario.

I leave here my request for the price of the monthly fee of FFXIV to be revised, please!

You can consider play with a Steam version. You can pay in Brazilian Reais via Steam Wallet and get a lower price because the dollar on Steam has a fixed cost so you can pay about 30 BRL per month.

Yeah, you should pay your sub with steam wallet, it's way cheaper. The price in Reais normally is way too expensive and prohibitive otherwise. If people don't know, the minimum wage in Brazil is too low, and the dollar too expensive. Paying 80 Reais a month for the sub is 1/10th of the minimum wage.

It's an unusual concept if you haven't played an MMO before, but there are monthly fees for some MMOs. The game is better as a result of it and the level of social interaction and entertainment you get can be worth it.

According to the OP, they pay 80 BRL per month, versus Steam's 30 BRL per month. This is the difference of $15 per month for the direct-from-SE version versus $5 per month for the steam version. In case you didn't know, Brazil is in a tough spot financially, in fact the steepest recession in 120 years. Roughly 14.83 million people in Brazil live in extreme poverty as of 2017 (defined as making less than $1.90 per day), and 40.2% of brazilian children live in low-income households. According to The Borgen Project: "According to IBGE, in 2017, the wealthiest 1% of Brazil’s population earned 36.1 times more than the bottom half of the population, averaging a monthly income of nearly $8,000. The poorest 5% of Brazilians received an average income of around $11 a month comparing to $14 the year before. Income of the wealthiest 1% only dropped 2.3% in the same period."

In reality, the request benefits both the Brazilian playersbase and Square Enix. Asking for the game devs to ensure parity between the two versions for players in Brazil is not asking them to make it free - it's asking them to take into account the financial situation of the Brazilian playerbase and make the website's version of the game as accessible as the Steam version of the game - which would net them more profit than if they just told them to go to Steam, as Steam takes a cut of all sales.

It does seem odd there is such a large price difference between the steam version and the non-steam version. But there is no chance of SE doing anything to address it.

Aus players have previously complained about being lumped in with EU countries and being forced to pay in euro instead of GBP or god forbid our own currency. Even though we have zero to do with the EU as a country we were just lumped in with France and the rest, and SE have never changed how we're billed.

I suspect someone at SE in the early days didn't do their research properly on these sort of currency/nation/union differences and it probably does warrant a review by someone who has looked at a world map.

FFXIV used to have something like this - until Stormblood when SE decided to change their payment model. Prior to Stormblood people in Barzil were able to pay in their local currency, with 4.0 they changed it to USD. Back then they offered refunds for everyone who purchased Stormblood but couldnt (or didnt want to) keep playing due to the price basically tripling. Back then they argued they made the chance because it was unfair that some people paid less than others (I'm not saying that that was a good argument or even their real reason, though...)

Considering that history, I think its unlikely that they'll adjust payment for countries like Brazil again - so Steamwallet might be your best option.

I've been a poor all my life. I won't complain. Gaming is a luxury and not a privilege.
If you can afford well nice. Food still should be first thing to prioritize.

    Humans are, strange critters... hmmm...
If the price was fair to each country economy, I wouldn`t mind if I in a good/balanced economy paid the fair price for my market.
It would be nice to have more players and people enjoying... but, I would think also that a few would use VPN`s to pay less. :/
