Any talk about them doing away with Aether Currents for flight

I actually don't mind hunting for aether currents. It allows me to explore and take in the map. The only annoyance for me is the ones required from side-quests and MSQ. I find it annoying to only be given flight when I'm pretty much already done in the map.

Ehh, that's kinda accomplishing exactly the intent. Especially ever since StB, with they way they've been splitting the zones up into high- and low-level areas that you go through at different points in the story.
