The same can be said about Role Quests. I'm on the cusp of finishing the Emet Selch arc, I really couldn't care less about some cowardice Miqo'te. I know there's way more to that story, but it escapes me at the moment. Which, in a way, echoes my point.

I really thought they were going to better coordinate the ending points of the role quests with the MSQ, what with them being prerequisites for progress. But if you've paced your EXP gain right and you're still at level 79 when you reach Mt Gulg, everything after that should be within the flow of the MSQ. It was not the point where I wanted to disengage from that story and resume the entirely separate role quest story.

It would have flowed much better if the role quest wrapped up at level 78 and you could finalise it before you approached what was pretty clearly the start of the finale.
