After thinking about it for quite a while I finally, precisely know what I would want the most for MCH.
I.Current problems
The MCH is too straight forward due to no RNG or lack of buttons. The rotation follows a few rules in order to use Drill and Air Anchor as much as possible without wasting any heat. Beyond that, it's sadly braindead.
The most of the rotation is just 1 2 3, Drill, Air Anchor and Hypercharge combo. Wildfire and the Automaton Queen are way too automated to actually consider them like part of the rotation. Reassemble is a good tool, not game changer but it impacts the DPS and is a good landmark to know when the next trick attack is. Barrel Stabilizer only exist for the opener, if there is not a single downtime during the first 2 minutes, the BS will be desynchronized with Wildfire when it's supposed to be paired with.
I honestly feels like old MCH iterations are praised because of Nostalgia.
HW MCH was interesting but had annoying flaws like stacking 3 damage buffs one after another or blank being important to the rotation.
SB MCH had the nearly useless heatgauge, lacked an overheat button and there was too much RNG, no gameplay beyond the wildfire combo.
II.Reworked abilities
There should be reworked, not fixed by a trait, their core function don't fit in the game or are simply boring.
Wildfire, it's not impactful, it's not fun to use, the combo will remain a "Boosted hypercharge". Maybe SQEX intended more Weaponskill actions that would work with it like Lost Assassination.
IMO, the best solution would be to rework it into an ability that consume heat to inflict damage. Keep the delayed damage if you want but reduce it, add AoE if you want, but making it instant rather than pairing it up with Hypercharge would make it far more interesting. Its lack of presence is also a problem.
EX1: 120s CD consume 50 heat to inflict 1200 damage + 500 to near targets.
EX2: 60s CD consume 30 heat to inflict 600 damage + 250 to near targets.
Lowering its cooldown should also come with a Barrel Stabilizer rework/lowered cooldown.
Flamethrower is the worst ability in the game, only outperformed by Anatman. It's a relic of the past and I hope SQEX will never make an ability that requires you to not move for more than 5 seconds ever again.
I already shared my idea and still think it's a great idea.
To not got into details too much once again, Flamethrower should put the MCH in a stance where the Aetherolyzer is used instead of the gun for a short period of time, 10-15 seconds for example.
1 2 3 combo would be replaced by brand new GCDs that would make you follow a different path to be optimized, for example 2 would inflict a dot in a cone, 3 increases your damage, 1 would be damages in front of the MCH.
To optimize the combo, it could be something like 3 2 1 1 2 3.
The ability could cost 50 heat to add more heat based tools.
Both of these ideas would reduce the 1 2 3 spam, the Hypercharge combo spam and bring something new to Wildfire. It would also strengthen the gameplay of MCH, switching from tools to tools.
III.New abilities
I've seen that some people would like more AoEs while I believe adding "button choice" is a bad idea. If we need an Air Anchor AoE version, why not simply make Air Anchor deal AoE damage? Both solution into one button like how Hissatsu:Guren used to work. No one asked for a single target version as far as I can remember.
Upgrade to the Queen - Shock/Flash/Noise Blaster/Debilitator
I've seen people asking for AoE use of Battery, I completely disagree with summoning an AoE automaton.
But! Can't we fix two problem at once? Current problem with the queen is that she's a glorified dot but we would add a command that would make the queen burst a shockwave or an electric around it.
However this shouldn't be an actual command but an actual action realized by the MCH based on where the Queen stand to avoid pet problems we all know.
On top of that, I would change the Queen to make it work based on charges rather than a duration but I'd understand if they would do that.
EX: 25s CD, can hold 2/3 charges. Deals XXX potency in AoE to where the Automaton Queen stand.
*Can only be used when the Queen is summoned.
Chainsaw
That's just a big wish here I've also mentioned in the past. The chainsaw has been a famous MCH tool in FF VI and XV.
Basically, the same way Flamethrower functions but as a Melee stance. Yoshida mentioned that melee gameplay would be simplified, following E8S-E12S, DRS and Diamond EX, I don't think making a ranged go melee for a short period of time be a crazy idea.
Chainsaw would be the "battery version" of Flamethrower but... Would it consume battery? If there is not more tools to generate battery I don't think it should consume the resource.
Would it generate battery? Not impossible.
Would it grant a charge after using battery? Not impossible but that would require tweaking considering the Battery gauge is meant to be flexible.
For now, I think that's all the big wish I have.
Honestly, if they simply rework Wildfire, Flamethrower and add more interaction with the Queen, I'd be happy.
