I say it's a mechanic due to the fact that SE has NOT changed it nor do they seem to have any PLAN to change it. It's working as SE intended by all available evidence with no effective alternative to have the best odds of getting a house amongst any competition at all.

To suggest that SE didn't see this coming is to suggest that SE is composed of window-licking moonpies, possible but not probable. To suggest that SE STILL doesn't understand the result which is why that haven't done anything is to be completely blind to the truth.

Just because has not changed it does not mean they do not have a desire to do so. They have limitations to work around and maybe in there eyes this is the best way with the tools they have. They have already said a few times forgot when that they are not happy with the current system and are looking into ways to make it better.

Lack of change does not support the notion of intent inherently. I get you feel camping is the only way but it really is not.

It's not the only way, you're totally right.

It's simply, by leaps and yards, the very best way.

And I'm not expecting miracles from SE, just that they keep their word. One house per account should mean one house per account. Two if you count an FC. Why are they allowing one player to own so many houses on a single account with nonexistent requirements to obtain them?

The absurdly simple bypass to their rule is a bad joke.

Sounds like camping. If you're dedicating yourself to multiple discords and sleuthing for any information you can get on houses it still counts as camping, if in a different way.

The hole I see is that no matter how you dress it up if you are using a substantial amount of time to get a plot, whether through the frustrating, but far more certain method of placard sitting for hours or hunting through discords and chats for times and estimates and tipoffs, counting on the good graces of others who are likely after the exact same thing as you (commendable if it works for you and not against you), it still requires a great deal of effort and luck.

And you have no choice. That's the only way it can be done. That's housing mechanics.

God forbid you have to put in effort to get things in life and any activity you participate in. You're looking for a hand out/no effort way to get what you want and that's just pure laziness at that point.

That's exactly the WHOLE POINT OF THIS THREAD! It shouldn't have to be such an effort, ya feel me. OP argues against house hoarding FCs taking away multiple houses per account, making house hunting more stressful than it should be.

But you argue against camping, saying it's a waste of time then turn around and say not camping or making the effort is lazy?

I personally not buying any story like they want house because they want to decorate and gardening when 80% of houses are barely decorated and no garden plot, so people can stop to use that excuse.
The only changes this game need to make house ward alive is to simply remove repair NPC in major cities and only let small town has repair NPC.
This will force people to use apartment/house more actively because they are able to hire a retainer repair.
This changes not only able to get rid the crying of they didn't receive demolition notification (mostly fat lie) or camping (the number house that demolished will increase), it also starts to make people use housing ward more actively and less stress on each city (especially limsa)

But anyway, that is why a lot of people want a house. They want a space to call their own and customize it as they wish. I won't bother giving a numbered percent because who even does that?

Just make it so every plot can have hundreds of owners (instanced) You select the house you want to see there (and enter) via the placard, which shows a list with thumbnails.
Less desirable plots would have their prices lowered as needed to get more population in those areas.
Eliminate multiple wards (no need) With everyone in one "ward". the population in the streets would be much greater, making the housing areas seem less deserted.

This...THIS would be a great solution within the confines of the current system. I had hoped that they would do something like this with Ishgard housing. Keeping multiple wards, though not necessarily all of them, might help alleviate some server congestion though.

But that's just apartments. And there are those already.

Make apartments with purchasable add on rooms - 300,000 gets you the current, 1,700,000 gets you down stairs, 8,000,000 gets you upstairs, 2,000,000 gets you an instanced garden.

(Or just do what other games allow and make a fully instanced housing system with the lot, available on mogstation)
