Random DirectX crashes, CTD crashes and lag spikes

Okay, so since I'm in the same ball park as several other players, it's time i made a thread of my own and requested some help.

As i have been saying on several other threads. There has been several issues following 5.41 and they have been quite persistent. I realize that the source of the problem isn't understood as of yet. But to try and be specific, what i have observed along with several others is that in high population areas and even peak times, it really can become problematic.

It's a bit odd because the game is acting in a peculiar way. This hasn't ever really happened before now.

When these crashes happen sometimes we can move, but animations are broken. Other times the hotbars will not be displayed correctly and lag spikes can render things unplayable. Although, usually DX errors will appear and freeze the game completely up. The FFXIV process will then terminate itself upon hitting OK on the dialogue boxes. But it isn't always the case, the game can also just force quit itself and crash to desktop.

I have mentioned a few of these things here before. But i would like to try and expand upon it and mention what i have noticed.

A recurring error is as follows :

However, on a couple of occasions, when logging back in and using the DX9 API, error dialogue boxes appeared in a similar way. But it isn't anywhere near as common as DX11 ones. The lag spikes are pretty bad too.

But there are also red warning errors in the event viewer that were there and those date back to the time that my subscription had expired. Those are marked with the "DCOM Distribution" flag. Maybe that's just because the app threw up faults as such, i can't be sure. But it's probably of no coincidence that those errors haven't been happening since. That seems to indicate some kind of bug.

If those ones we're still ongoing, i would have put it down to a motherboard issues, but the fact that they aren't and have ceased since, it was worth the mention. Not that i think that's something to hugely be concerned about because there hasn't been any BSOD errors. Gotta be something on the end of the game itself.

On other games and using several different DX backends. There really hasn't been any problems at all. I did make sure i was using the latest drivers and ran Ccleaner before launching the game. But to no avail.

I have unfortunately tried all of the troubleshooting tips and disabled overlays, it's a relatively clean installation of windows 10 and Since I don't typically have other apps running in the background when gaming. I'll close them down. I have disabled items through msconfig when trying to figure it out and the same thing happens.

But I'll drop my device information from the launcher at any rates.

(If anyone else who is getting the same sorts of issues could check their event logs in "system", that would be cool. It might just be an artifact. But Again, it may not be. In the time i have been unsubbed those have stopped appearing in my own case.

Good afternoon and thank you for the reply.

Could you try using a registry cleaner such as CC cleaner? It will run and remove files that may have been left behind by installation another activity on the PC. To so, please remove the game and then restart the PC. Run the registry cleaner and then restart the computer. Once the computer has been reset please reinstall the game again. After reinstalling the game, please restart the PC once more. Once the PC has been reset, please launch the game.

I also got the same thing yesterday after going to Fringes. I thought it's because of the queues. I just did the uninstall and reinstall but now the game just won't reinstall at all.. I haven't done the cc clean up though.

I check my log and it just said something like " The application specific permission settings do not grant Local activation permission for the COM server application with CLSID and APPI"

Although there hasn't been a return of those same faults in the event viewer and those are certainly the same ones. I mainly just tried to join a hunt train the other day and the same thing happened twice consecutively.

Firstly i got a visual C++ crash which rarely happens, but then direct X crashed again, this one's not the same one. I was using dx9.

Yes, unfortunately the problem is really quite a thing, I've updated graphics drivers and also tried rolling back. So it's absolutely not that.

I am currently also experiencing the same issues at random intervals. Similar fix attempts. It's not a driver issue. This is with a complete fresh reinstall of all game files as well. The machine temps/utilization aren't anywhere near capacity either when these errors occur.

Even as of today's patch, the errors are occurring. It seems the only way to eliminate them is to go back to DX9, but that's still no guarantee of failure-proofing.
