    Disabled player help

    Hello

I know that this won't get any recognition as a post, as is the usual for most games regarding accessibility. I had contacted already to a GM but asked to post to the forums so apologies if this is not in the correct place.

I'm having some really quite upsetting issues regarding the game and some achievements I have worked hard on but can now no longer complete due to my physical limitations. I find the game on the most part to be calm and easy due to reasonable gcd and no crazy button pressing. I have pain issues and when I make lots of movements with my hands for a prolonged time consistently they seize and are painful. An example of some negative feedback i have received by players is using a macro to say "hello, im new" at the start of a duty and told im not authentic for doing so regardless of using them because they help with my disabilities, so please understand my hesitancy in posting this.

Overall I can play for hours and be fine as again its easy casual button presses, except ps4 chat typing limits, that is until I have tried doing the kugane tower jump puzzle. I have gained sightseeing logs and completed all Heavensward and stormblood except the 2 associated with the tower. I have tried almost daily but everyday my hands are in pain trying to consistently motion around the tower with this problem. I know many might read this and think its pathetic which is a shame, as I wouldn't wish chronic pain on anyone, especially when it causes you to be home bound and gaming is my only means of escape.
Overall, I am now stuck where my very real disabilities are quite seriously preventing me from completing these that I have worked so hard on. I understand challenges in game and many I cant complete and that is OK, but sightseeing? It may be a unique situation but I am entirely unsure where to go from here. I ask please be kind on this and try to walk a day in my shoes so to speak. I hope that a dev or someone can maybe offer insight or how I can resolve this, or am I to stop trying to earn achievements entirely if they are not accessible?

    Thanks for listening.

Normally I would say have a healer friend who can do it easily, raise you the whole way up via you utilizing BLU self-destruct abilities. They added a timer on it now though, where you can't do it again for 9 minutes. Still doable if you have time and a patient friend, though.

    Hey there,

I'm not disabled but I understand the hand pain and many can probably share their wrists pain and such.
But don't worry about disability, there is many stories about disabled players who managed to clear an ultimate. I believe a player born without fingers managed to beat TEA. Another, mute, managed to clear UWU and unless you use external tools, you have to communicate with your teammates.

I can't exactly guide you but there should be tools to ease the pain, maybe an adapted controller? Adapted keyboard...

It's not pathetic to ask for help, everyone has their own challenges in their daily life, be it physical disability or mental one.
If you absolutely can't find a solution... There is 2 ways to get those precise sightseeing logs.
First is to use the marriage ring, let the other person climb and teleport you.
Second is someone raising you on the lamp (You need to unlock BLU and self-destruct).

It's not cheating but more loop-hole, considering your situation it might be the best solutions.

Hi I'm unsure what you mean regarding healing and blu self destruct. I havent been playing the game a very long time.i also see responses to you about players being bad at the game and only assume these are directed to me. Being disabled isn't about being bad at something.

    I sympathize.

That being said, and whilst I can't wholly relate; I understand this doesn't directly solve the underlying issue if you're having significant distress in attempting these puzzles due to disabilities, then there is no harm in trying to ask friends to help you out with the puzzles, be it something like self-destructing (Self-destruct spell which kills you) on BLU into a resurrection so that they can resurrect you further up the jumping puzzle, or even trying an attempt across several hours or multiple days so that you aren't doing the movements for an expended period of times. You can spend some time just prior to finishing off for the evening, then resuming your attempt when you log in the first thing until you're unable to pursue any further, then repeat again at night and daily until you finish it.

Blue mage is a job. It has a skill called self destruct. You can use it in city states to kill yourself. Your friend (a healer) can then climb the tower so far and throw you a raise. You raise to their spot on the tower. Rinse and repeat aaaaaaaall the way to the top.

Or as said get the free wedding package, marry a friend. Then use the wedding ring that has a built in teleport to your partner, to teleport to their location at the top of the tower.

Your then free to repeat the tower if you want to do it legit, to your hearts content without the stress of failing since you’ve already got the objective

Otherwise just take your time. If it takes 3 hours let it take 3 hours. Don’t push yourself and don’t rush it. Take a break between jumps and ideally if you have to stand on a peg till morning so be it. I find it easier to climb during day hours so if I’m on it over night I just wait the night out or use sun minion for some light on tricky jumps.

Thank you for the advice. I do think I have a blu but haven't done anything with it yet. Focused mostly on crafting and gathering and my blm. But I did marry my rl partner and carer in game so that's worth an idea for sure. Thank you again.

Unless a comment is directly stated to you, maybe don't assume everyone is out to get you because you're disabled?

As Rhus said, Blue Mage is a limited Job that has the ability to gain monster skills - such as a bomb's Self Destruct, which will kill the player in the overworld. A healer who could manage Kugane Tower oftentimes would ressurect a BLU player up onto the pegs to get them to the top, for people who had trouble with it but wanted the sightseeing vista. While the timer on the self destruct reuse is annoying, it isn't impossible to get past if you and a healer friend have time to dedicate to it.

Wedding rings are a quicker way and wouldn't require real money if you are doing it solely for the ring teleport.

Beyond that, just trial and error it at your own pace. Kugane Tower is difficult for many people simply due to the fact this game is not exactly built for platforming and tight jumps - I haven't even done it myself, only had a friend res me up the tower back before the self-destruction cooldown timer was put into place.

It's common for people to avoid the difficulty of these with raise tricks. Even without disabilities a lot of people find it too hard. If you wait in Kugane for enough days/weeks or visit some other world's Kugane, you will eventually see someone get onto it and offer to bring people up.

If you have trouble with a lot of others as well, someone may offer to help if you ask around, or you could offer a gil reward of 1 million or so for someone who helps you with all of them. The gil may take some work to get, but what you get for it is forever.
