    Random, very inconsistent DX11 Error

Over the past couple of weeks, there's been a specific crash that's been plaguing me(and a few others I know). The error codes are nearly the same every time:

    ffxiv_dx11.exe+2FDF5A
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+3062F2
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+30C262
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+309811
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+30C001
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+30E21D
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+194E82
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+13C0549

    More notes:
The frequency of this error is random. It can happen anywhere between from less than an hour to over several days of play before being seen again. This error does not appear to be triggered by any specific location, as it has been recorded in Limsa Lominsa, Alphascape V4.0 (Savage), and a few other zones.

    Solutions attempted:
Running without any overlays did not fix the problem.
A fresh client did not fix this either.
The latest drivers were used, with the error still happening.
My GPU is set to run at stable speed, with its factory overclock removed.
--This stops Fatal DX11 Error 11000002, but does not appear to affect this error.
NVidia Control Panel settings are set to default, except to proritise performance for FFXIV.
Windows Game Mode and Game Bar are completely disabled.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums

Could you try doing a cleanboot? Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.

    More Inconsistent DX11 Errors

After re-installing and re-booting, I am still getting errors, such as this one:

An unexpected error has occurred. Exiting Final Fantasy XIV.

    ffxiv_dx11.exe+126B516
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+11570EB
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+112C04F
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+476478
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+17114D
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+171383
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+9152F
    ffxiv_dx11.exe+55B15

    ---
EDIT: I've resorted to using windbg to try and analyse these errors further, to help with troubleshooting. One crash dump suggested the following:
    0x80000003 - {EXCEPTION} Breakpoint A breakpoint has been reached.
This seems to be an indication there's still something conflicting or there's a problem with FFXIV itself(as only FFXIV is crashing).

Wait, you said it stops the DirectX Error 11000002. How did you do it? And will it work on gaming laptops?

Good afternoon and thank you for the reply.

Could you try using a registry cleaner such as CC cleaner? It will run and remove files that may have been left behind by installation another activity on the PC. To so, please remove the game and then restart the PC. Run the registry cleaner and then restart the computer. Once the computer has been reset please reinstall the game again. After reinstalling the game, please restart the PC once more. Once the PC has been reset, please launch the game.

Wait, you said it stops the DirectX Error 11000002. How did you do it? And will it work on gaming laptops?
I will try certain other options suggested soon. Trying to disable more Start-ups as there is no standard option(Task Manager is replaced by Process Explorer) for that on this PC, so it comes to disabling their Start-ups via an external program known as Autoruns. This should ensure the Cleanboot is actually clean.

Anyways the method to stop the variation of Fatal DX11 Error 11000002 mentioned was done by using overclocking programs such as MSI Afterburner to set the clockspeed BELOW its unaltered values, down to the stock/factory/reference clocks for the GPU.
You can check if a Fatal DX11 Error 110000002 was GPU clock related by going into Windows Event Viewer(found under Windows Adminstration Tools for Windows 10's start menu), going into Custom Views -> Administrative Events, and seeing if an entry that includes "Display" is listed with the following description:
"Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."
If such an Event Viewer entry is present at the time of the Fatal DX11 Error 11000002 crash, then the error is GPU/Driver related as a result of clock instability or driver issues.

After trying the cleanboot suggestion once more, I had still encountered a crash without there being another program interfering.

The error contained the following codes:

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Have any changes happened to the device before the issue began? We would also like to recommend several other troubleshooting steps:

    1) Disable any additional programs that could cause interference with the game itself including chat programs. Also, remove any custom configurations made using graphics driver-level programs
    2) Remove any mods or injectors from the game or system
    3) Turn off Fullscreen Optimizations. Find the executable file for the game (normally found in the install folder), right-click it and select 'Properties'. Under the 'Compatibility' tab, check the box labeled 'Disable Fullscreen Optimizations', then click 'Apply'.
    4) Remove any unnecessary USB or audio devices (controllers, headphones, flash drives etc.)
    5) Install Windows and FINAL FANTASY XIV onto the same drive (preferably the C:/ drive)

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

    More notes on Solutions:
    Fullscreen Optimizations are already disabled.
There are no unnecessary USB or audio devices in use.
Currently have yet to try the C:\ drive solution. FFXIV is currently installed on the D:\ drive, but there is a caveat. My user account data is also located on the D:\ drive, though Windows' core files are on the C:\ drive. I'm not sure if putting FFXIV on the C:\ drive would be more or less stable, given where user account data is.

If possible, could I have an explanation for why FFXIV when installed on other drives can cause crashes? Is this due to an error when trying to load something from Windows' core files(typically located in C:\Windows)? [8 April Edit: Fixed minor spelling error.]

    Other Notes:
A review of a second crash dump was done, and it was found FFXIV had largely the same errors when other programs were not running.

Good afternoon and thank you for the reply

While installing programs/games on secondary drives is normal for PC, Final Fantasy XIV communicates with the C drive constantly. It is possible that installing on the main drive of the PC can alleviate the issue.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums
