How do i even start getting into raids?

    Hello guys!

I've been interested in raids and similar content for a while now but i have not the slightest idea of how to get started with it. I'm absolutely unexperienced in that stuff ("hardest content" i played was void arc in roulette.)
Most things i found on sources like reddit is to find a static. But they seem to mostly look for experienced players and always go for the new content and i'm not sure if i could handle stuff like the newer eden raids as someone with literally close to zero raid experience.
My FC does some raiding aswell but only with their static. I asked them if i could join and learn as a newbie but they told me thats not gonna happen so easily.

So my question is: where could i possibly look for a "not too hardcore" raidparty? I don't think i can handle 3-5 times a week training, mostly because of work and irl stuff..

About me: I played mostly story content and leveled a few jobs to 80. I also feel somewhat confident playing jobs like dragoon or even scholar but could not guarantee that i will always do the max. possible damage just yet.
Also i mostly want to finish the contents for the "story" (eden etc i guess?) or simply for the clear. Meaning that i currently don't see myself as someone farming the same raid a billion times for some specific loot. I wouldn't mind if i would find a party that goes for some farming sessions, but still.

Thank you in advance for helpful tips!

If you wanna find a static advertising here, in game, or asking in The Balance can def help you.
I found a static through solo que and just matching with people who hit me up later.

But if you don't get some raid experience, you'll always be someone with no raid experience!

The first two floors of each savage tier are usually learnable, practice-able, and clearable with a /partyfinder group. Look for Eden's Promise: Umbra parties with the comment "fresh prog" or "newcomers welcome". This late in the cycle, you might have to make your own party finder listing, but you're not the only one in your position, so you'll probably be able to get at least a few people, and maybe they'll be able to convince their friends to help.

The people clearing savage fill a pretty broad range of skill levels. You don't have to be 95th percentile to clear, but you do have to be able to remember the order of mechanics in a fight lasting between 9 and 12 minutes and move to handle those mechanics while still executing your rotation.

As you're learning a savage fight, the most important thing is learning the mechanics and how to move to handle them. Eventually you get to where you know all the mechanics of the fight and are seeing the boss enrage. Then the clear will come down to playing your job effectively enough to meet the dps/hps checks.

Some people get from learning to enrage to clear faster than others but everyone still has to learn the fight, so don't feel bad about not having experience. Everyone starts as a newbie some time.

That said, savage raids do come with certain community expectations. Unless the party finder comment specifically says it's okay to come in without reading about the fight first, the community expectation is that you've at least read a guide for the savage-specific mechanics or watched a video.

If you just want the story, the expansion raids have story-mode versions of each raid. These are easy enough that a casual party of people with zero foreknowledge can clear them without wiping more than a couple times. These are okay to queue for without doing research first. Enter with duty finder. Be surprised. Die to mechanics. Learn from your mistakes. It'll be fine.

Then there are the savage versions, which will take the mechanics from the story version and build on them, and add a few more new mechanics and come with the expectations I mentioned earlier. These are just for the challenge and you don't need them for story completion; the story mode versions cover the story completely.

ARR's raid series only comes in savage difficulty, even though it's not marked as such. For that raid story, you will need to do these savage-equivalent raids with a party that is prepared and coordinated. ARR is the only one with this format. All the expansions have story mode versions that you clear for the story before you start doing the savage version for the challenge.

Sounds like you may need to refine what you think "raiding" is. Don't imagine you'll find a great deal of collective groupings of players just looking for a not-too-stressful clear of normal mode raids, since, everyone just queues into duty finder and things get done. Statics and serious "raiders" are really mostly just prevalent for the Savage fights, the actual hardcore challenges.

What I would suggest is to start out by doing the Normal Mode raids this tier through the Duty Finder, because the savage versions (which are what 99% of statics are going to focus on) build heavily on those mechanics.
Beyond that, make sure to practice your main job, I would suggest choosing just one, and really dial things in so you're super comfortable on it, as that will help when you're also having to do mechanics on top of keeping your damage up.
If you're going to play Dark Knight, it's also important for you to learn how to do a Tank Swap before you start doing Extreme or Savage content, there are many videos on the internet that will teach you how

The normal mode raids are designed to be very accessible to newer players, and they don't punish you nearly as hard as savage; you can get through them just fine as long as you're paying a little attention, no videos or guides really required. You'll probably die to mechanics a couple times, but people are generally very forgiving of that kind of thing.
Regarding story, there's minimal story you'll miss if you don't do savage, and the only story you'll miss at all is from the very last floor of Eden Savage.
