Display only detrimental effects you inflict?

Is there a macro command for this? Or a way to have it only apply to a specific HUD layout?

I have trouble keeping track of my DOTs to properly time Iron Jaws, so I display detrimental effects in a different spot, with a larger size, on my HUD for bard vs. every other class. If I display everybody's detrimental effects, the area becomes way too cluttered and messy.

It's a pain to go into Character Config and change this whenever I play as bard/switch off of bard.

I honestly wouldn't wanna remove other players effects, because then you'll be missing out on moves like trickattack. But the debuffs that you cause should always be the first ones on the boss bar, if you don't see a dot from your class first it's most likely dropped off.

Unfortunately no, theres just the box you check in character config.
AFAIK macros can't interact with settings like what you're asking.

Out of curiosity why do you only use this feature on bard?
I personally find it quite useful and just leave it on.

Darn. I know you can assign macros to change HUDs, and stuff like that, but I guess you can't directly change stuff from the character/system config screens.

I'm probably just not a very good bard player, but I have a hard time keeping track of when my Dots are in an ideal window to Iron Jaws, when my songs need to be switched, when abilities come off cooldown, and refulgent arrow/bloodletter procs. I try to keep everything bunched together with Bard, but I don't prefer or need that clutter with other classes. So with Bard I have only my Dots timer underneath the song gauge, which is right above where my abilities are on my XHB. All other classes I just have detrimental effects underneath the boss' health bar like the default.

I could use it with the other Ranged Physical classes, but they don't really have anything I need to keep my eye out for like the Bard Dots. Burst windows should hopefully be hit naturally, so as long as we're synced and I'm hitting Battle Voice on cooldown, it's not super important if I see things like Trick Attack or Chain Stratagem. I keep it on for the other classes so that I don't overlap things like tricks, chains, feints, addles, etc.

Depends on the job i guess.Healers would typically not want it on as they'd never see debuffs on the tank or things to esuna.

Over the years a few people have suggested expanding it to have filters so you can choose what to show and reduce the vast amount of clutter.. Seeing that ninjas trick attack or scholars strategem yes thats useful but at thesame time i really dont need to see everyones bios, shadowfangs, thunders, bites or any number of other dots and stuff that just screen clutter.

If anything the sheer amount of them can make it even harder to see the important ones. When there's 18-20 icons and your trying to see if trick attack is up..

The setting just changes what shows up on the enemy.
You never need to esuna the enemy.
I'm not sure what you're talking about.

At this point the game actually does filter these things. They still all show up but it puts the important ones first. The exception to this is if the target has too many debuffs on it (sometimes happens in alliance raids a bunch of SMNs) where it'll just stop displaying new debuffs altogether.

Currently it'll display your debuffs (duration is always shown in green) then important debuffs from your allies like Trick Attack or Chain Strategem, then everyone else's garbage.

True, and that is helpful, but the problem is that I like the debuffs to be fairly large so I can read the numbers (120% - 140%) and when I display everyone's it just starts bleeding into other parts of my HUD where I don't want it to. I agree with one of the above posters that it'd be nice to have an option to toggle specific things we want to display (pretty much just an option to get rid of the stuff that would fit into the "everyone else's garbage" that you mention.)

Again, this really only applies to Bard for me. Most other classes it doesn't seem like I'm watching timers so slavishly

Are you sure? Not in game at the minute so can't test but I'm fairly sure that filter filters all status effects that weren't caused by you.

If you target the tank and the boss throws a poison on them it won't show up on the target bar..

Sometimes this is not a huge issue as it can appear in the party list but not always depending on how many buffs and cooldowns and other stuff are presently active.
