Pretty sure that the original imperative for NG+ was to revisit all those areas you skipped when you bought the story-potion/job-potion the day you started playing the game.
As for rewards? There is really no reason to get them. Better to take up crafting, because almost every single reward from the MSQ is craftable gear.

Except you'd know that not all the cutscenes are at the FC house. That's WHY people asked for the NG+ feature: because the cutscenes in between that are INSIDE the trial/dungeon/raid (including the biggest lore related ones inside the Coil of Bahamut, the scenes that play while you are still seen as being inside the duty) & plenty others are not available through the housing item.
That is... No. It's chapter based, so it could be as long as you want especially if you watch the unskippable cutscenes part & you can do whatever part you want to do. Heck your housing item idea IS LITERALLY the 2 hour movie rewatch theory since you don't do anything.
Also calling someone stupid is incredibly rude when you are very much complaining since, to you, there is no "benefit". The benefit is going back & watching all of the cutscenes how they were when you played them. Not everyone has the time & effort to lvl a whole other alt to do the story (since you can't always be at the lvl of the story especially once Endwalker comes out & doesn't have the FC benefits to use the chest) so your alt idea isn't fully beneficial either to many.
For me, NG is in that middle ground where I liked the MSQ, but I don't quite like the quests enough to spend my free time re-running them, but if they gave EXP (and no other rewards) I'd love to use it to level alt classes. It would be a far more enjoyable way to level than endless dungeon spam even if it was slower. I'm at that stage where I've maxed a good few classes and I'm just burned on dungeons/deep dungeons.
Not complaining or demanding changes, just feedback that it'd be a great feature with exp rewards.
The reward for New Game+ IS the story.
(Saying that, I think XP would be a fine reward for alt jobs as long as it's balanced. But no other rewards.)

My opinion exactly, it could be redone around a per-class basis with XP, not sure about item drops tho, I'd rather see that purely done through dungeons to promote queuing for them still. My two cents, not complaining myself really :3.
