Same goes with stuff that show no text as well, eg. heavy skill spam in populated areas... like holy... or anything of the likes that produce a loud sound and more.... bards can be reported too if walking up to another bard and just keep on pressing random buttons to disturb that persons playing and being annoying to those that listen.
I remember them pole dancing dragoons!
MANTASTIC: I got 1017 problems, but playing FFXIV ain't one.
Llyren: Lala Tanks hit point density levels attract small planets
Unless they were spamming it to the point that no one could communicate, I don't think there'd be much of a case. But I guess that depends on the GM. Personally, I find them obnoxious most of the time. Then someone posts one I find amusing and then a little faith in humanity is restored. But I would never report anyone for using these regardless.
Reporting someone for ASCII emotes is just bullying. They didn't hurt you and merely annoyed you. I hope you're not going to actually report them.
I didn't. It's not the emojis it's the sound spamming that was annoying. I don't care about the emojis. It's just the chats completely gone and you get forced to listen to overlapping bongos. Now if it was "Hey mechanics incoming!" With the bongos cool. You did it to alert everyone and good on you. But just recklessly spamming it because you want attention is toxic.
This. People who report others for using an emote 2 or 3 times need to get a grip. I can understand in dungeons if someone is spamming a useless macro, but if people are just minding their own business in a city...there's a teleport button you can use to leave if they're bothering you.Technically, it's reportable.
Personally I would feel bad at the idea of causing another player to potentially lose an account they've invested a lot of time and effort in over something like that, though. Such spam is easily hidden using the ignore function and there's a chance the player in question was just fooling around with friends or trying to cheer themselves up after a stressful day.
I'm not sure why everyone keeps jumping to conclusions, but I can assure you it was way more than two or three. I'm not even sure what was the point of doing it in alliance chat outside of trying to annoy 23 other people. I'm not trying to witch hunt ascii spammers. Honestly I don't really care, but when you add sound effects to that mix and make them excessive you're forcing me to do something whether it be reporting you or telling you to stop doing it. And if you were there when it happened you wouldn't have been nice telling them to stop. That's all I'm saying.This. People who report others for using an emote 2 or 3 times need to get a grip. Did I say it was you that i was referring to? Because I wasn't. I'm specifically referring to emotes (like dote), so I'm pretty sure were talking about different things. Yeah if people spam macros for no reason with sounds, then go for it and report. I've just had a couple of friends get reported for using embrace/dote 2 or 3 times with their significant other in cities (particularly Limsa) and was saying that it is stupid to report people for that.I'm not sure why everyone keeps jumping to conclusions, but I can assure you it was way more than two or three. If SE actually warned people rather than giving immediate strikes or marks on a player's account, it wouldn't be so bad. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be how they handle things.Technically, it's reportable.

Essential that's all I would really want is for that person to get a slap on the wrist. They kinda did verbally one member promptly told them "Stop f@$%ing doing that!" And to their credit they did. But it was just so obnoxious for really no reason. That whole alliance group ending up dying several times so I guess karma took some shots as well. But yeah the way SE handles things is way too stick.
