Obviously none of this was as effective as an actual healer but it did mean most of these jobs could carry healing if the healer went down for one boss fight. Now basically all of that has been removed but old content is also a breeze with how overgeared most people are and a lot of healing skills are accessed at later levels like PLD clemency and yes RDM vercure and veraise.
Anything that can kill you at low levels is because either your healer went afk to go grab a sandwich or because of a major failure of a mechanic, neither of which spot healing could handle.

If RDM being unable to verraise is a problem, the problem is not the RDM's lack of Verraise.
