Frequency: Frequent
Party or solo: Both
Steps (This can be resolved client-side because there's no fix otherwise):
1. Xbox 360 Wired Controller will disconnect at random times on PC.
2. During this time, the wired Xbox 360 controller will reconnect and assume the "original controller" (quotations as it's the same controller) is still plugged in, therefore reassigning Player 1 controller as Player 2. Player 1 is no longer accessible no matter what devices are stopped or removed from Task Manager. Games have had to fix this client-side.
3. The game is no longer playable on an Xbox 360 controller unless restarting Windows. The game must be completely shut down and the operating system must be fully restarted.
4. Steam and many other platforms have fixed this issue by allowing any controller of its 1-4 player ring to operate a one-player game. Unfortunately FFXIV will only recognize Controller #1 and never permit any other controller to operate the character, or to select another controller from a drop-down. Therefore I'm forced to quit an ongoing dungeon, trial, or take penalty because I can no longer control my game.
5. Please fix this by permitting any connected controller to operate Final Fantasy XIV regardless of which controller is assigned as the first player, or to consider the drivers of the Xbox 360 wired controllers and allow all 4 player positions on the Xbox 360 green "ring" to be assigned as playable.
