Why are people guessing that the next job is Necromancer?

I have heard that the most common evidence is that Yoshi P was wearing a T-shirt with a reaper with a scythe on it. But isn't necromancer a caster job? How would it fit as a melee DPS?

It seems like we could also get Dark Knight (maybe changed to a different name) or Beastmaster (which I think makes sense because Ranj'it).

What are your guesses?

Yeah Necromancer doesn't make much sense at this point.
It's already in established lore as a caster, the new job is confirmed to be using maiming gear.
Yoshi P even mentioned Necromancer during the livestream, as well as saying no one had guessed it yet. If it was Necromancer, he would have just kept quiet and not mentioned it.

Yeah that makes sense. A lot of people are still guessing Necromancer though, so I'm curious what additional evidence they have that I might have missed.

Literally just his shirts that appear to show some kind of Reaper, and have completely misinterpreted his mention of Necromancer during the stream.

I have also heard that people were guessing Necromancer as the next job because of the Heroes' Gauntlet dungeon, though I'm not sure if it's before or after the announcement.

That was mainly before the announcement, when the common theory was that we'd be getting a Healer and a Caster DPS.

After searching about it the reason people believe it is necromancer is because Yoshi P is known to hint the new class via his shirts, thing is the person literally hinted Samurai by wearing a spiderman shirt and saying his favorite spiderman film was produced by someone called Sam reini which kinda sounds like samurai.

With this big brain level of hints I dont think anyone can say anything for certain, his hints are just too epic sometimes xD, I think he mentioned he wanted the new job to use dragoon gear since that gear isnt shared by other jobs so I dont think necromancer is likely but it is likely that the job would use scythes

I think the speculation has evolved into a "Reaper" type job where they'd be a melee scythe user. Most of the hints point to it, it may well build from the side to the FFXI Dark Knight we didn't get with FFXIV Dark Knight and build a new job out of that, because their main weapon choice was a scythe, could wield heavy armour (which maiming gear kinda is) and there are /some/ reaping cues, like in some of their weapon skills on scythe and some of the drains they could use on enemies.

There was some speculation on "Templar" but Templar exists in Final Fantasy Tactics and I think Yoshi P said it would be a job new to the Final Fantasy universe. Templar came about because somebody decided to look up the author of the comic associated with YoshiP's t-shirt this time and their surname was "Temple", but I wouldn't be surprised if YoshiP did that on purpose to mislead people given it was how he hinted Samurai. And it wouldn't explain his Children of Bodom t-shirt, unless of course it's a scythe wielding Templar I guess, just like the main character in Dante's Inferno.



But I feel like it'd be a stretch, though a cool concept because it'd marry up the Warrior of Light and Warrior of Darkness aspects into 1 job and if they were going to do that with a job, it'd be a good time to do it.

But as Ralph said, YoshiP sometimes does big brain level of hints so there could be some next level staff we're not considering...or we could be near the mark because he also once wore a bugs bunny t-shirt to hint Viera and you don't have to think /too/ much into it.

Maybe it'll be BST, since they're the other job that does scythes and to reward your pet you give it a bone.

Pretty sure Yoshi is against new pet classes due to the issues they have with pets in general
