(Emphasis mine)Would be nice if they did. Doubt they'd want to cut into fantasia sales but it'd be nice. WOW expanded its barbershop greatly over the last expansion or so and greatly expanded what you can change for gold there, would be nice to do anything short of race/gender changing with him instead of getting a fantasia.
I completely agree.
Miqo'te/AoRa/Hroth shouldn't have to use a Fantasia just to change their tales.
Elezen/Lala players that wanna fix their ears shouldn't have to pay real money.
Etc.
Eeeey, that's a cool idea.

It'd be cool if they let us change our faces so that Hrothgar players didn't need to use a fantasia to change their hair.

Agreed here; I have used Fantasia to change only my characters voice before...

Coming from games where you had the character editor cash item for $15-20 and then the full race editor combined with the character editor for $20-30 I kind of just accepted.

This is kind of just my perspective on it, so take it whatever way you want. I feel like they view tail/ear changes as part of changing your character as a whole because they would technically be considered body parts. If you notice, we can't alter anything through the aesthetician that we couldn't alter naturally ourselves (outside of limbal rings but they could be considered contacts...which also makes me wonder why we don't have eye color changes but oh well).
For example you can cut and dye your hair whenever you want irl, all you need are scissors and a box of hair dye which are easily accessible items. But if you wanted to alter part of your face (like get a nose job irl), you have to go get surgery for that and pay a doctor to do it. I mean, you can do it yourself I guess but you'd probably not do a great job lol.
So that's how I view fantasia vs. aesthetician stuff because at the end of the day, the aesthetician is nothing more than a cosmetologist/hair dresser irl. They can't give you a nose job like a plastic surgeon could because it's out of their area of expertise.

I think that was to avoid backlash because they changed how the races look so much that for many players how their character originally looked is no longer available in the game. When the first racial upgrades were brought in many players were very upset because there was no way for them to make their character still look like the character they recognise. It actually caused quite a lot of drama. But that was Blizzard's fault because in so many cases they didn't just upgrade the faces, they replaced them with something that looked completely different. A bad call. So it's not surprising that for the second round of upgrades they were like "ah just let them change whatever whenever to make them less annoyed at us".
The WoW barborshop updates are far more recent than the WOD Player model updates if that's what you're talking about. That was a few expansions ago now and they had an option to keep displaying the older models if you prefer.I think that was to avoid backlash because they changed how the races look so much that for many players how their character originally looked is no longer available in the game. More recently they actually gave some of the allied races they added extra options at one point and with SHadowlands just up and redid their character customization ui and barborshop UP altogether adding more options.

As far as I recall that was only client side, and the option also got taken away at some point. Can't remember when though.
Yea I know, just saying that the history with the racial upgrades hasn't been super smooth as far as player reaction is concerned. It was quite controversial in the community. Which could partially be why Blizzard gave players even more freedom to change to make them less salty about having a look they loved being taken away from the game.
I would love to see the same long list of options come to FFXIV but I don't think that would happen until there are upgrades for all races which probably isn't any time soon. They haven't even finished viera and hrothgar yet -_-

SE isn't a magical corporation unable to offer the same, regardless.
