I want Garuda's head on a silver platter!

So, I've been really excited about Garuda. I got to thinking recently, I want to be the first to get this done.
I do not have my linkshells support on this, as it may cause too much drama within the ls, see past examples. I just think it'd be a really cool feat to have. Just think the first in all the worlds, or in just one server! I think that is really exciting.
I would need seven people plus myself to work together. We'd have to be so in sync that if one person was about to sneeze another would grab a tissue. I already know this will never last.
I just figured other people were as excited as I was and had the same idea or anxious itch.
The linkshell I make would be a temporary linkshell, unless the eight of us wanted to convert to a random day or two event and keep it up. I don't care for grinding to get all weapons. I just want one win. ONE
My intentions are for the betterment of the server. Once we end, we pass on our knowledge to our main or other linkshells. We say goodbye and part ways.
If nothing else, we made seven friends.
This will require primal coordination. I had the idea we could start with Ifrit/moogle and start creating ideas. Lots of losses are inevitable. This will build bonds and what we are good / bad in. This will require time, but when Garuda comes out we will have to get apeshit crazy.
I just need seven people. I will play whitemage, but can do others okay. I will not tank.
I've been doing leves that require elemental fighting and have some ideas brewing. I just need seven others who want to work with me.
This would be a weekday linkshell until Garuda is out. I plan on grinding as soon as patch is released. Weekends are off until then due to prior engagements.

Is this a good idea or am I batshit crazy?

Hi, I'm not from your server, but I hope my opinion is not unwanted.

If you are looking for a group JUST to get the win, I think practicing on similar events would be a really good idea. Believe it or not, there is definitely 'chemistry' between people. By playing together, you develop some sort of intuition with each other. If someone dies, who's going to raise? If something needs to be bound, who uses it first? Will people be quick enough to STOP what they are doing if they need to, suddenly? What if something similar to pillars pop from the ground. How quick will your group be? I'd definitely use vent, and I'd definitely have an 'order' for these things. Having a 'raise' or 'stun' order is not uncommon in other MMO's.

My really HUGE suggestion here is to get people without much lag. In a fight like Ifrit or Moogle, lag can kill (grrr, eruption), and on a new fight like this, you're going to need as perfect of a reaction time as you can get. If everyone is using a flawless strategy, but someone can't help dying because of their lag, it's a bad situation for all involved. I also believe this goes without saying, but... choose people in your time zone. Nothing sucks more than having to only do 2-3 runs because people need to work, or go to bed, etc.

As far as the idea of having a linkshell that gets together and does one thing and then goes its separate ways... that's not so far-fetched. When I played FFXI (oh no, more comparisons!), I encountered several situations where this exact scenario occurred. There was a 5x carbuncle BCNM that required 6 separate fights to flag, and a final BCNM that was REALLY hard without a good setup. Just to get to the final BCNM took a long time, and you needed eighteen people total. A static group was set up for this. After we FINALLY won that fight (first on the server, I believe), we split up and never played together as a team again. It's a fun memory to have, but there is an advantage to this, too.

Let's say you decided to make a group with your linkshell only. No doubt, there will be a LOT of new content at the launch of 1.22. No doubt, a lot of people will want to explore different areas and won't be on the same page as you. When 1.21 came out, my LS spent the first week getting everyone's AF. We barely even touched the new dungeons. Meanwhile, other ls's had already obtained speed runs at that point. Everyone has their priorities, and at least you know when you set up an ls like this, with a set priority, everyone involved will give it their all to GET that priority.

I just think it'd be cool to be first to kill Garuda, but my server hates me.

When you make dumb threads bashing the majority of the server population whos fault is it really? I do not hate you but i do think you need to think through things when you post. Your "il just Blist you" attitude doesn't make sense because your Blisting potential players that you could have in your 8 man team. Also your reputation on a server is more important on a game like this because it really is a close knit community when it comes to people knowing each other.

Also your character name is shown on your profile. A small spark is all it takes for people to talk badly of you to their LS members then its not just you Blisting ONE person it could "potentially" end up you accidently getting a whole LS not wanting to join you.....and it just gets bigger and bigger from their.

Okay, it totally was a mistake posting on this thread in the first place. I don't want to get involved in drama I know nothing about. Sorry everyone! <3

With my little experience from actually playing with Xakery, I think she's a good whm and player. I was rather surprised when I noticed she's also the one writing the rants, but I didn't let that bother me since she was such a nice mi'qote back there.

To get back on topic, I think this is a fine idea and I would definitely love to join, but there's just three problems: my timezone's GMT+3 (though I dunno your tz, just a guess), I have some lag in ifrit/moogle and I don't think my dedication to go for this would be high enough, I'm too much a casual player.

That being said, good luck! I'll be cheering for you!

This right here. It also depends if you can also walk the walk and not just talk the talk. In Fairy/Sylph on XI we had alot of retards but some of them were good players.

Wish you luck. I'll be on trying to get the first win myself, but chances are it'll once again be MIKU lol

Finding a group of randoms, knowing nothing about their playing style, or if they're good or not will not get you first.

Besides, Balmung has dedicated linkshells like MIKU, VII, and possibly Insomnia, who probably won't stop until they have the win.

(There are others, I'm sure, I just don't know who off the top of my head.)

    Good luck with that.
