Anyone else not find Dancer appealing as a class?

Maybe it's because I'm a guy, but something about Dancer just rubs me the wrong way. I can't explain it. At first I thought maybe I didn't like it because it's kinda feminine, but it's not really that. I can't put my finger on it, but I'm dreading taking it to 80 and I'm probably going to save it till the last thing I need to level to get that mount.

I find it a bit too basic from a gameplay perspective
The whole gameplay loop can crudely be summed up as 'Use the skills when they light up'

Aesthetically it's great IMO, I love to see male dancers

I love to be able to be a male character and be with a job considered "feminine" (even though I can't really see as much?).

But If it's not your cup of tea... okay then. I just don't get why you're dreading it, since it seems that you'll only level it to 80 for the mount. If it's that jarring to spend a long time playing the job, just level it through MSQ roulettes, one per day... In about a couple of weeks you'll be there with barely touching the job itself.

only problem i have with dancer is i cant seem to find a good glamour for it

I've been slowly leveling everything to 80. I have 9 jobs left, but honestly using it exclusively for msq roulette is a really good idea I don't know why I didn't think of that. I've been kinda laser focused on one job at a time, but with all those other jobs I actually like playing most of them. Thanks for the tip.

I don't care much for the aesthetic but I really enjoy the gameplay. Dancer is just ...comfy to play. It has enough APM and little optimizations to make it engaging but it's relaxed, easy to pick up and doesn't have the clunkiness or harsh punishments for messing something that other classes can have. Bard in comparison felt awful for me to play, what with jugging DoT's, songs, constantly leaking damage from bad proc timings and the slow ramp up after a boss intermission. Overall a thumbs up from me for DNC, it's nicely designed.

I thought exactly the same as you because I'm a guy. But when I actually played it I found it fun enough. I even use it over bard for farming old mobs.

What made me enjoy it more is that if you reduce the Idle Animation Delay to 0, it makes the idle pose like Xena and I like Xena!

I find the story fitting, even though far eastern things aren't my thing I just try to make the most of them and find that I can enjoy them. The quests make you use your dances as a performance to put on a show and I found that really fun.

I mean.. maybe it just doesn't work for you? I have that with Pugilist. I've got damn near everything to 80 now.. yet Pugilist is still sitting at 1. Because it just doesn't look like something I enjoy, granted, I only tried (and failed) one PotD run with it, but yeah.

I leveled dancer on an alt and I really enjoyed it. I thought the gameplay was fun ^^
No class is going to appeal to everyone though.

Mines at 70, but I also really don't like Monk all that much. It's fun enough to me, but my enjoyment of it relies on my tank being competent and that is not always the case and I get mad at the job and myself for playing it poorly, but that's the kinda of person I am. It's ironic because I'm casual as hell, but I don't like being the boat anchor of the party.
