    To Much Experience

It would be nice if there was a way to turn off any or all bonus experience. At least the bonus from playing on certain servers. I just hit 51 in my main job and I am still doing, I think level 41 or 42 main story quests. At this rate I will be over 60 before going into the first expansion's content. And all I have done is the story quests and the class quests. Literally nothing else.

I would be tempted to switch servers if the friend who got me into FF14 wasn't playing on my current one.

I get that the bonus will be wonderful when I am leveling a new job, but right now, it's way to much. Would just be nice to have a way to shut it off until I am ready to use it is all. I just don't like being way over leveled from what I am currently doing, at least not the first time through.

Ah well, I guess I can start a new job and start doing the story quests again when I reach the proper level once more.

There's literally nothing wrong with overleveling. There's level sync in this game for a reason

Notice that I didn’t say there was anything wrong with it, just that I don’t like it. Not an I suggesting the game cater to me, which is why I said it would be nice. I am also well aware of level syncing, don’t really like that either. It sucks having a bunch of skills go poof.

Not really making any demands here, mostly just speaking my thoughts out loud.

Ok, but there is no negative that comes out of overleveling either, so there's no reason to dislike it.

Gears do not scale with your level in this game, so you'll still receive gears that is appropriate to the quest/content that you are doing.

If it still bothers you so much, just hide your exp bar as you don't really need to see it.

Of course there is a reason to dislike it. I already mentioned one. Because level syncing taking away my abilities all the time annoys me.

For another, I’m leveling so fast through the main story and class quests alone that they are all I do, and while the story is really good, the majority of the main story quests are ‘go here and talk to this person, then go there and talk to that person’. That’s a lot of talking. It would be good to break that up a little bit more often with action. Fates, levequests, non story dungeons, etc. Do that though and I level up faster still.

I realize this is a non issue for the vast majority of people. But I am something of a weird guy. Greatly out leveling the main story stuff makes my brain itch.

We can all relate to level sync disabling your skills and why that's annoying.
But you're outlevelling the sync by 10 levels, just 10 levels, that's about 3-4 skills at most.

By the time you're level 80, you'll be running old synced content on a daily basis and losing your skills when synced becomes a daily occurrence, and far more than just 3-4 skills at that. You just get used to it, it's just the format of this game, and it's there for a reason.

Level sync is just a part of the game regardless if you're overleveled or not. Of course, once you get to max level, you can limit the amount of activity you do to not deal with level sync, but it's still there for max level characters.

And just for the record, you can always do other stuff even if you're not behind on exp and can continue with the MSQ. That said, the reason to try to stick to the MSQ is because it's long, but only needs to be done once per character. If you venture out too much outside the MSQ, you can forget to continue with it and can get further behind.

Either way, I hope it works out for you whatever method you choose to deal with it.

    There are negatives to overleveling.

When you're more than 5 levels above a creature, chances are good it's going to ignore you. If you're more than 10 levels above it, it will ignore you. That removes danger from the world at a time when those creatures should be aggressive and feel threatening. They also die much easier because they aren't designed with the higher level toolkits and power in mind, reducing the chance of them feel threatening even more.

When you're more than 10 levels above a creature, your chocobo gains no XP from when you kill it so it ranks up much slower.

There's no useful benefit to overleveling because MSQ controls content unlocks (other than 5 ARR dungeons) and zone unlocks once you get to HW content.

There needs to be a way to disable the bonuses for those who want to be able to experience all the content at the intended level and not just the dungeons/trials. Those who want to faceroll the content can always do additional roulettes to get the extra levels for the power advantage.

Content becoming easier is just part of the game. Even synced content doesn't put you at the "intended" level, not with many players syncing to the maxed level.

Chocobo leveling slower is not an issue because the open world is not too dangerous anyway outside of certain ARR zones early on or perhaps during big FATEs, which syncs you, so you can level your chocobo that way or wait until you're max level and fight max level enemies.

Useful benefit to overleveling is to make things easier for your main or to speed up your alt leveling.

There is an experience bonus from being on a Preferred world. You may be able to disable this by right-clicking it, or by having not made the character on a Preferred world.

You can avoid the free company experience bonus by visiting another world or joining a different free company that doesn't use it. I recommend not doing any roulettes if you don't want to overlevel as well.

You should avoid leveling alternative classes above your main class' level, otherwise it gives an experience bonus.

You said you are forced to play on this world because of a friend, but you could make your character on a non-Preferred world from the same data center, then visit their world.
