I feel adding Mariner Cotton Cloth to the Moogle event was a poor decision

Mariner Cotton Cloth is one the most coveted drops from ARR Treasure maps, and soon it will be available for a mere 5 tomes for months

Treasure maps are currently one of the most precious and limited resources in the game, and I feel heavily diminishing the relative value of the rewards isn't a good decision to make for the game

I understand it is by far too late to reverse the decision, but I had to at least voice my concerns and say it sets a bad precedent

I hope to never see rare Treasure items like Mist Silk or Calf Leather available in future iterations of this event

What I've found with other rare rewards is that once the event ends, the people who want them after that have to do the original content for it instead and that demand remains.

I have horrible luck with treasure drops. Like, RNG doesn't know I exist in portals. So, I'm basically stuck with buying it off the MB or endlessly torturing myself with low rolls. So this is basically giving me an option that will allow me to actually get the cloth for once. I'm happy about it and I'm not really mad about them adding old content into Moogle events since odds are most newbies aren't going to take the time to farm old maps. Some will, I'm sure but from my perspective, you don't see a ton of people chilling in the old ARR beast tribe areas either. Hence why those mounts are there.

Doesn't change their drop rate though and I was speaking in a general perspective of maps. Also doesn't change the fact that it's old content and people who are coming in now might not even realize they exist. It's a solution for those who don't want to endlessly farm maps/dump gil into the MB for them & pray to RNG. In my opinion, it's a good solution and gives more people access to items they normally might not be able to get. It's not going to be around forever either.

Mariner cotton is unpleasantly expensive for a material where you need quite a few of them to fill out your crafting log at that level. It will be nice for them to be cheaper for a while.

Plus the sailor brais are a good all-purpose glamour piece so I think it's better for them to be in an accessible price range.

Im not fussed and gil isnt an issue..I want a few of these pieces for glam only, really. So the addition is a nice touch. Yes I do know what these will hit the markets, but I remind my esteemed colleagues that this i for a short term only, and the markets will, as they always have, adjust accordingly once the event ends.

Unhidden maps are a VERY rare drop and I can recall seeing maybe four in two years. On Kujata, boarskin maps go for 38000 gil.

Mariner cloth? 78000 gil,.

I think it's a good idea, either that, or these older drops should've been integrated into the newer maps. In fact, it's disgusting that they didn't incorporate these older map items into the Shared FATE system of ShB.

I get the prospect of it devaluing the rarity of it. But not many people will simply waste their time on Boarskin maps when they can just as easily do, or collect a singular Zonureskin map, do it, or sell it then buy the Mariner items. Why would I do boarskin maps when there are far more worthwhile and profitable things I can be doing with the upper maps to offset the costs of buying Mariner outright?

Just simply not worth doing them, especially when you can also just as equally get Moonfire gear in Palace, or on the Market for dirt cheap and then desynthesize for Mariner anyway if you wish to make Sailor.

I think Zonureskin maps are by far the worst party map for it's respective release.
I've been making more profit by just gathering and running Wyvernskin/ Gaganaskin / Peisteskin maps than I was spending hours grinding Zonureskin maps.

Definitely wasn't the case for Stormblood and Gazelle skin maps, I made BANK doing this in 4.0

It really doesn't help that the end reward of raw gil is halved for the Zonureskin roulette dungeon for seemingly no reason, as well as there not being any 5.0 equivalent to thieves maps.

You can hope for Calf Leather or the art emote or end up with a bunch of over saturated junk.

The common crafts are still valuable, but you're way better off just buying the mats of the MB for cheap and selling the end crafts if you want gil.

I don't think I'm the only one who feels that way either, as Dragonskin and especially Gazelle skin maps sell for more than Zonureskin maps quite often.

With the release of Endwalker, SE will most likely update the prize pool for Gliderskin maps to include a lot of the currently dungeon drop mats for Zonureskin maps.

SE did the same thing for Wyvernskin and Gaganaskin maps at the release of Stormblood and Shadowbringers, respectively.

Lastly, bot Zonureskin parties exist.
Resulting in zOnureskin drops being more over saturated then they would likely be otherwise.
