When I was playing everyday, I would do like MAX 3-4 through roulette. Usually just 2 (expert, leveling). Sometimes I wonder how some people have such a high tolerance for grinding in this game. Well, in general really.

Crown was really a mistake, I never understood why they didn't made a watering can.
I've been a mentor for quite sometime and to be honest I never turn the crown on. The writing was on the wall for NN, I've turned that off first week, never looked back.
I just try to be helpful and encouraging but I don't think you need crowns or exclusive roulette to do that.

What about adding a relic to the requirements for mentor.
Like, need to have finished at least one relic of one previous expansion to obtain mentor status.
That would be a better proof of a player knowing about the game and his mechanics then just farming more commendations.

That would tell me they were willing to grind through the absolute boredom of for example an ARR relic quest chain. Not sure how you'd gather it shows some kind of knowledge. The problem isn't that you need to raise the bar higher, the problems surrounding toxic mentors is a personality slash community problem. One that will be there as long as Mentor has things that people want. What about adding a relic to the requirements for mentor.

How about removing the mentor system altogether? The fact that you know the """"mechanics"""" of (almost) every dungeon and trial doesn't really mean you're fit for teaching new players how to play the game properly. Also there is so much more to FFXIV than roulette duties of which it's impossible to verify the knowledge...
...and Google exists

Is mentor really a problem? Or Novice Network? It isn't about the crown for many, many keeps it hidden since it's just tacky icon.
To me this is once again another of those "problems" when everything is fine and dandy so you keep trying to make something a problem.

Again, how many runs I do a day is literally irrelevant because that's not your issue. Your issue is that you don't like how people in NN act. Raising requirements won't force people to act appropriately. People who aren't the nicest will still participate in the grind. As it's been said by other people, the only way to remove people who are becoming Mentors solely for the crown/mount is to remove them entirely. The requirements to become one aren't the issue. I feel like a broken record at this point.
