Just a shout out that THIS was perfect. the grind work, the effort, the time, the reward.
I loved everything about the Skybuilders relic lines, and I LOVE how my crafting table lights up!!!
Really hope to see more of this in the future! ♥

I would have to disagree with the reward part of it honestly. If they do continue to do this they need to make the relics actually worth a damn. Right now, they're trash, plain and simple. Aesthete's pentamelded is still superior and takes far less time to actually make/buy than grinding out a relic. The only reason to get a relic tool is if you don't want to go about pentamelding eight different tools and are happy with slightly sub-optimal stats. These things need to have materia slots on them to be any good, period.
And I know this is a matter of opinion, but I think they're trash glamour too. Save a couple, the designs are mostly boring simple designs you'd expect to see on a level 15 vendor tool, they're not dyeable, the glow does not extend to the bench (only ALC's does), and worst of all, they do not enlarge and hang on your back like the final-tier crafted tools always do. Like what's more impressive, a giant golden chainsaw on your back or a dinky little saw that hangs on your side and looks like a low level saw you'd buy in a starting city for a couple hundred gil? The lack of enlargement really hurts the smaller tools like LTW and GSM whose designs you can't even really see. I will admit the dragonscale effect is nice and having them glow when unsheathed instead of only while in use is a QoL upgrade, but the overall glow is less impressive than the blessed king glow so they don't even wow me there, either. Was pretty disappointed with literally every aspect of the relic, to be honest.
You really had to come to this person's thread saying "thanks for these relics" and just complain about every single detail?
Anyway, I also enjoy the look of the finished tools, though I'm disappointed that the complete version can't be dyed while some steps in between can. Unless I missed a step? Either way, it's pretty cool to have relics for crafters and gatherers. It requires putting in a lot more work than just gathering 180 unique items or something.
These tools are only crap when you look at them in a vacuum; stat-wise. In fact, they are actually superior tools speaking in terms of stats for a lot of people since it will allow them to meet crucial breakpoints with craftsmanship which either allow them to shave off tea/syrup or reduce the step count. The loss of control is irrelevant since it doesn't mean the difference between additional HQ materials, nor does it impact regular rotations, so this is just incorrect. For these tools to be meaningful to any degree, they'd require approximately 200~ control. Now I say this because this is what is necessary to avoid HQ materials entirely. You can make the argument all day long if you wish about the use of leveling materials, but it's still easier to get Aethersand HQ, than it is to HQ leveling items. Simply because NQ barely even exists in its current form. So asking them to be meaningful to the degree that people are wanting to insinuate they should be, simply isn't pragmatic without putting them on par with Lv.90 main-hands. This of course doesn't apply to everyone if you already had the stats, but I can assure you it's a significant increase for the vast majority, myself included, and my tools were already overloaded with control (2701/2837/554)~ prior and now 2746/2820/554.
The only piece I can agree on is that yes it does significantly longer to get these tools comparative to that of Aesthetes. But that is neither here nor there, they have a glow, and are one of the few choices of glamour we actually get aside from Blessed tools, which I can assure you it's still significantly more time to get Blessed tools than it is to get Skybuilder's tools.
I wish people would do more due diligence with stats and rotations beyond going less control bad, bad control less, brrrr. The only argument case here would be Expert recipes, of which I'd still argue that the Craftsmanship outweighs the Control loss.. But this again is neither here nor there because of different people; different tactics.

I just feel like if you absolutely had to give your feedback you could've been more constructive. The OP said they enjoy them and they're hoping SE does it again in the future, and you basically just marched in, threw everything they said in the trash, and set it on fire.
They work for casual crafting yes, but so do unmelded Aesthetes just as well. If you're a serious crafter, you're going to be melding the Aesthete's to the specific rotation you want to use, which will mean it can have higher craftsmanship/control than the relic depending on what you want to do. It can't have higher craftsmanship AND control than the relic at the same time, this is true, but most of the time you will want to focus on one or the other on your mainhand according to the rotation you are using.
In the end, nothing is difficult enough to *need* this level of optimization of course (not even the grade 4 experts), so it doesn't matter. But the simple fact that the relic is not the best tool after going through all the motions of getting it is a pretty big let down. I don't need it to be level 90-tier, just give me 5 materia slots on it and I think myself and everyone else who was disappointed would be happy. I just wanted something to actually equip and use over my Aesthete's tools and all I got was something to stuff into my saddlebag and forget about. Not everyone will agree, and in fact, since most people are not serious crafters, most people will be happy with these. But most serious crafters expected more when these were announced and in the end they didn't live up to the hype.
I get that these things are great for people who hate melding or spending lots of gil on their tools, or who don't care about coming up with perfectly customized rotations. And I get that this is most people. It's just MY OPINION that these things didn't do it for me, personally.
I did so because I DON'T want them to do this exactly the same way in the future. I gave constructive criticism in saying what they did wrong and what they should have done instead to make these things worthwhile to me. Sorry if dissenting opinions are forbidden around here and only super happy positive comments that agree with the TC are allowed.
If you're a serious crafter you're going to be doing due diligence with your research when new tools and gear comes out instead of aimlessly melding stuff to the max be it Control or Craftsmanship. Or dismissing something simply on the premise of 17 control. I did my research, I found out good breakpoints, I adjusted my rotations accordingly then clarified to see if all other rotations I use are still functional and whether they can be optimized. Of which they can. So my Aesthete's are simply in the dirt here. If you don't seem to think this has any benefit then that is a you problem, not a tool problem.
If nothing is difficult enough to require this level of optimization then by that point overloading the Aethete's tools just simply isn't worth it, which is what is necessary for them to be better than the relic tools in the first place. It isn't even about the difficulty of them in proportion. But rather simply about saving as much time as you can whilst crafting. So if that optimization allows for you to reduce steps due to higher craftsmanship, or reducing CP cost and thus the need for tea/syrup then it is going to be something that you'd consider pursuing, especially if you avidly craft. In this specific case, I can either use 20 step rotations be it on spec or non-spec. I can also drop tea/syrup from my rotation entirely and still reduce the step from 26 > 25.
Most people, be it serious or otherwise that I've encountered didn't even expect the +6CP, let alone 5 materia slots. Aside from the unrealistic expectations on the forums..

Grow up.
You could've easily said, "I'm glad you like them, but I felt kind if disappointed by them, like how they don't compare stat-wise to other ones around the same ilevel, and the designs are kind of simple. If they do this type of thing again, I hope they consider things like this."
But instead you said, "the stats are trash, the glamour is trash, and they look cheap." Not constructive. Just treating your opinion like fact. And coming on to someone's post that was nothing but nice and acting like it was an invitation to dump on everything they said and say the thing they enjoy is garbage. Read the room, guy.
