Yes, it's confrontational if you slate them, call them trash, and effectively inferior with insufficient research or consideration of pre-existing builds, and then subsequently try to pawn this off as fact.I just want to say that I find it weird some people are treating this response as if you're trying to "burn" the OP or that you need to "grow up" or whatever. You disagreed, you explained why, and you also clarified that it is only a matter of opinion that the glamor are not good as well.
Weird how something as mild as your post are viewed as confrontational, I mean, huh...?
He may or may not be wrong regarding his opinion about the thread's subject, but I really don't see how he's being confrontational in that post. All I get from all that post is an IMO, it's his opinion, and he's not trying to antagonize OP, merely disagreed with the OP about the state of things.
Like, I really don't see how that post is an indication of how he needs to "grow up" or somesuch, it's really mild and inoffensive, and it's just him disagreeing with the OP, which I thought is just fine.
I agree with you man. Some people just live to complain. Ignore it and move on.
Well, I can at the very least tell you that reaching higher Craftsmanship breakpoints you get much more control loss from remelding pieces versus just equipping the Skybuilder's Tools. Case in point; in order to reach 2735 Craftsmanship on non-specialist you will hit a maximum of 2738/2819/554 I believe, compared to that of 2749/2820/554 from the Skybuilder's Tool approach, so in that regard, it is better, that's just a simple, and cold fact. I'd have been willing to agree with them if they said the ends currently do not necessarily justify the means (starting from scratch > 510), but they outright called it trash and ranted "suboptimal stats" which is simply factually incorrect.He may or may not be wrong regarding his opinion about the thread's subject, but I really don't see how he's being confrontational in that post. You'd need to ask the other poster that, but they at the very least came across as non-constructive with a lot of feedback "it's all trash"; instead of giving feedback as to what they could do to improve tools in the future. Be it an additional step that would allow for materia to be affixed to the gear, or by creating a 'bonus stats' section for the tools, so you grind and grind materia amongst other rarities and outright customize additional stats right down to the single digit. Similar to that of light grinding, I guess. Consider the following;
Craftsmanship; 854 - Control; 468 - CP; 6
Additional/Bonus Stats
Craftsmanship; +21 - Control; +18 - CP; +1

The tools are nice, but I agree that for the effort they should be the best stats possible. At least for the crafting ones. The Botanist and Miner ones are almost too easy.
It would be nice to have a matching secondary tool as well.

Except it's low enough in difficulty that the tier 1 rating can be achieved through a macro if you have the minimum required stats plus food.
If it can be done through a macro you can look up online or get from another player, then it's very much casual content.
I have a feeling that might be what we're getting in 5.5. YoshiP did say in the Live Letter that new Expert recipes would be coming with new tools as rewards. Since SE stated repeatedly that the Skybuilder tools would be our BiS for the expansion, the new tools coming would have to be the secondary BIS to make them worth pursuing.
I'm also expecting the exact same problem with the upcoming tools - set stats with zero ability to customize so they're nothing more than shiny fluff.

Also if you just want the glow we've had shiny tools since patch 3.5, from 4 years ago. They're under the respective craft/gather achievement list
They are the best you you can get if you hate penta-melding, which I do. It's a lame mechanic. IMnsHO
That would be cool, I thought this was the last one. I would be cool if these tools could be melded but they have a special feature, that when you over-meld the slot becomes permanent.I have a feeling that might be what we're getting in 5.5.
