    now just hear me out

what if we added stances similar to MNK fists but to all classes each boosting different effects so you can switch forms on the fly to fit your current rotation example DRG would have a stance for jumps a stance for dragon only moves (moves only available under the blood of the dragon timer) and then just a standard move stance unlocked first as an introduction to stances of course yes it would require looking into more and balancing but idk i like the idea

But seriously, I hate this idea. All classes need not and should not have all features. I main NIN and don't see what this would add other than random buttons to press.

Making stances more meaningful/interactive for monk—sure. Adding stances to every class—hard pass.

I just want to know the answer to one question. But why?

Monk fists are essentially useless and everything you have suggested for Dragoon is covered in Blood of the Dragon, it does not need ANOTHER button to manage that does basically nothing of substance. The same would go with other jobs where stances are not a core part of their rotation.

No. Mnk's stances need to go as well. Wind and Earth stance are useless since no one uses them. They just pop fire stance and pop off on the target. Blood of the dragon pretty much does both of what you described.
Healers did have cleric stance before and that cause a mini-civil war in the healer community.
Ninjas did have 2 stances before but they both got turned into traits before just becoming a passive on a ability.
Tanks did have 2 stances before as well, a offensive and a defensive stance, but those also cause a mini-civil war in the tank community before SE made them like how it is now.
Theres no point in stances if they just eventually get turned into traits or passives on abilities.

So before I would be able to press a button (Jump) I would have to press a button (jump stance)?

    No thanks.

I don't see how this whole stances idea adds anything to the gameplay except button bloat.

Also clipping. As a Black Mage I really don't need more buttons wich cause clipping issues...

So, what I read is basically:
"Hi, I love monk. Monk is my main. I wan't everyone to experience the joy I have when playing monk. So why not add some monk into every other job ?"
And I admire the love you have for your job, and your desire to spread monk's love to a wider audience. But yeah it would remove some of the identity of monk wouldn't it ?

    It's a nice sentiment, but I'm sorry, I won't return to monk-ey!

Just to beat the dead horse a little more, Fist Stances are already unpopular on Monk for being wasted design space and they have been for three straight expansions now. We don't need to inflict that on any other job.

It wouldn't take any identity from Monk because the Fist Stances have never been a part of that identity.

That and they gave Monk's identity to Samurai in Stormblood and never came up an idea for what Monk was supposed to be after the fact, so it's not like Monk has much of an identity right now anyway.

So, with stances like what you're talking about, it would be extremely difficult (and need A LOT of new systems or combat system changes) to not fall under:

    1) There being a single stance that is the "best" and they just stay in that stance (e.g. MNK now)

    2) It just being another button that you press during a certain point of a fight (e.g. what you described with the "jump stance")

    3) I supposed the third option if you can't change stances in combat would be both 1 stance being the best and overall rotation being trimmed down to more boring than it already is.

I could see maybe 2 stances, a single target and an AoE stance essentially, where some attacks turn into AoE attacks (e.g. High Jump). Might be nice to clear out some hotbar space too, having the AE stance "replace" your normal combo with the AoE combo. But, even that has it's problems and doesn't add a whole lot of value.

    Would tanks gain... sub-stances?
"Here are 5 sub-stances you can go into, 2 for when you're in tank stance and 3 for when tank stance is off."
