I really hope that after Endwalkers wraps up, we get another expansion in the Far East. Perhaps a Hingashi expansion with a lot of extra content added for Yanxia/Doma, Nagxia, and Azim Steppe. I've been playing a lot of Genshin Impact lately, and felt there are even many aspects of Chinese culture still unrepresented in Liyue. Such as a lack of Hanfu. For those who love the flowy robe look of Kimono and Hanbok, various styles of Hanfu are very similar. Yet there aren't too many video games that feature Hanfu on characters. Even Liyue people in Genshin Impact. To say nothing of the lack of representation in Final Fantasy XIV.

Yanxia is ostensibly a fusion of Japanese culture inside Mainland China. Being a fantasy setting, lots of cultures have been fused in Final Fantasy XIV. I don't think there's anything at all wrong with that. And many aspects of Japanese culture came from Tang Dynasty China. But it would be nice to see more aspects of East Asian cultures feature here. More Chinese names, both Han and those of other ethnic backgrounds like Manchu, Han, ect. An Austronesian area with Gamelan music(I'm sure Hiroki Kikuta would be happy to provide, he's made Gamelan music before). And some Korean inspiration as well.

I think more exploration of Yanxia, Nagxia, Hingashi, and the surrounding areas, would be a great excuse to explore not only them more, but represent more of Asian culture in general.

I don't want them to suddenly take away Doma Ninja and Samurai. Or have less characters with Japanese names, as is the trend they've started. But there's no one named, say, Qiqi, Yaoyao, Xiangling, Xingqiu, Keqing, Zhongli, Hu Tao, Ningguang or Beidou in Final Fantasy XIV. A few names like that here or there would be nice. Names of Han, Hmong, Hui, Uyghur, Manchu, and also Korean would be nice.

And I'm sure there's also reason in recent expansions like Endwalkers for Hingashi to open up, in the future. That region can stay as Japanese as it's been so far!
I just hope that if they give us Bukyo, that they don't destroy it.

Being someone who has a lot of experience playing Mihoyo's games, both Honkai and Genshin.. you do realize it's not at all surprising to find a lot of China in a game made by a Chinese developer, right? Whereas for example Final Fantasy XIV with indeed the Far East tends to mainly remain focused on Japanese.. because the developers are Japanese. I don't think it's likely they'll suddenly start focusing on a lot of Chinese inspired things in areas already defined as primarily influenced by Japanese culture.

To anyone who wants more Doman, Hingashin, and The Azim Steppe content; Along with future zones like Nagxia, Bukyo, and etc.

I suggest that they buy the eastern stuff in the Mog Station.
Personally I've been rocking the Doman Magpie to show my support for more Doman content.

But there's also the Red Hare, eastern dance emote, wasshoit emote, eastern how emote, numerous eastern outfits in the costume section, the Golden Cumulus, the Flaming Nezha mount thing, and so much more.

Support them where they listen. Spend money! And maybe they'll see the interest for more Doman/eastern content.

Just thinking about this idea makes me want to gift a few friends a couple of Doman Magpies. Maybe I'll even throw in the Red Hare as a birthday present to my best friend who joined the game recently. We gotta do anything we can to show them we love the far east. Especially with Endwalker bringing the threat to Doma via that strange tower, and Bozja making the Doman Enclave relevant. It's never been a better time to show support.

Japan's art, culture, philosophy, writing and administration systems were based very heavily on China. It wasn't until 1885 that Datsu-A Ron was implemented, the "De-Asianization" of Japan that saw it abandon the Chinese model of society for a Western one. Before than much of Japan looked up to China so it wouldn't be hard for Japanese developers to pull from it's own history to showcase Chinese inspired things, because most Japanese culture was inspired by China.

It's so irritating to have half an expansion take place in the Far East and for so little Eastern style gear to actually be attainable in the game. I believe there are more Far Eastern sets on the Mogstation then in the game, which is nuts.

They represent a lot of cultures that are not Japanese as well, though. Even for Asian, Azim Steppe is based on Mongolia and related Turkic areas. We have multiple Near Eastern regions and cultures reflected. And of course Elves reflect French naming. In general Eorzea is largely European, geographically and culturally, with the exception of Ul'dah, which seems at least in part inspired by Egypt, and wider Maghreb culture.

Just the same, miHoYo of Shanghai is planning to implement regions based on multiple cultures in the future. We already have an Inazuma villain, and the last Archon quest implied we'll be going to Inazuma in a major update. Zhongli basically implied the next major cultural region we're going to is Inazuma.

The world of Hydaelyn is in many ways, a mirror of our own. And there's much culture already represented in Final Fantasy XIV that is not soley Japanese. This is not intended to be some kind of scathing criticism of Final Fantasy XIV at all. It would just be nice to have more. There's already a great variety of East Asian clothing and glamours. Being excited about possible cultural representation in either game I think is fair. I'm excited to see what Inazuma in Genshin Impact is like. And it would be nice to see more of Chinese culture in Final Fantasy XIV.

My friends are always having to put up with me talking about how much I love Othard and Koshu. There has to be another expansion coming at some point with exploring things like Nagxia and the rest of Koshu. They keep bringing in Nagxian characters with Bozja and it makes me SO ANTSY to go explore it, because it is obviously not as barren and unlivable to the in game text makes us believe.

The architecture, music and lore is so good for these areas as well. Plus Asian themed things tend to do really well with the gaming market, considering the market it’s usually aimed at. I mean we’re all playing Final Fantasy at the end of the day.

In regards to someone saying that we should buy all of the eastern themed things on the Mog Station, I am predictable and buy up anything Doman related. I can’t help it.

Back to afking in Yanxia so I can have the music as background noise.

Most people I've talked to, who are critical about SB, are critical because there wasn't enough Gyr Abanian content AND not enough Othardian content.
Both SB regions are in desperate need of a more focused revisit.

That is where the expansion fell flat, in my opinion. Too little focus on either region resulted in a rushed story with little time for actual plot and development within. They should have done an expansion for each region, not 2 in 1.
